Unless you want Texas, USC, and Texas A&M to buy every single 5-star recruit and win the national championship every year from now to the end of time.
Everyone expressing this idea of like "Ohhh it's just a change that Saban doesn't like. He's butthurt. Get with the times." is a fricking retard.
NIL as it is right now makes cfb ALL about wealthy donors, and nothing else. Whoever has the wealthiest donors will win.
Aside from getting in your cheap shots at Saban, does anyone truly want this?

I think its this fact that you've stated here that is the reason Saban doesn't like it and is butthurt. Its like the Trump presidency. Shakes up the establishment and scares the people that don't want to get with the times.
Also, if we have to go through a couple of years of teams buying players to iron out how to pay players legally and on an equal playing field, Im about it.

You do realize that this has absolutely nothing to do with Saban, and everything to do with the death of college football, right?

Correct, because it took skill, experience, organization, and strategy. Saban was the master of all things college football including the shady aspects.
Now it's just about wealthy donors. Boring.

tell me you're in a Bammer bubble without telling me. What an idiotic take.
Bleeve it or not, forrest, you can both believe saban is royally pissed he doesnt run the show anymore and think that NIL is a shiteshow.
Money has been in football for decades. Now that the slimy frick is getting taken for a ride by the tide of inevitable progress within the context of the contemporary financialization of everything, he's being a crybaby. As per usual with this grandpa. and you're dickriding his take because you're just as scared as he is.

His comments made it everything to do with Saban. But you're right on that college football as we used to know it is changed. Now we have to face the reality that has been true for a while now. Majority of the players that come to the schools we root for are there because they are getting things from the school and not out of an abundance of love to the university.
Sure, some schools can claim to be better options to the NFL, but now thats not enough for kids to go to your school. You dont think that upsets coaches to know they are basically entering legal bidding wars for top players? It brings teams to the playing field for recruits they normally wouldnt get.

Jimbo said less than 24 hours ago that he would love it if a set of clearly defined regulations were handed down by the NCAA. Does that mean I'm Team Jimbo too? Sit down you fricking moron

How is this any different than Bama buying every single 5-star recruit and winning the national championship every year. You guys are just mad that this will cut into Bama dominating every year. Stop being hypocrites.

Too funny
No
Bama is pretty much the Yankees of college football.
As with the Yankees, the majority of college football fans can not stand Bama and thus Saban.
Hey, embrace it. Everyone hates you bc your team has been successful.
But don’t make up a lie on this one. Pretty much all national media is trashing Saban right now. The only ones not are specific ones for ESPN that are following their orders. But there are several other ESPN analysts not tied specifically to college football that are letting him have it as well.
What he said about A&M made people laugh bc is was so hypocritical. What he said about HBCU was even worse and making many question things about Saban. It’s easy to go find the videos. Go find them if you don’t believe me.

I think you're just mad because TN sucks arse.
Yeah, Alabama has been dominant over the past decade, but it's not like they win every year. They don't even win the SEC every year.
Just in recent years you've seen LSU, Georgia, Clemson, etc. also win championships.
In this new era, nobody aside from the 2-3 super wealthy schools have any chance at all.

Maybe ignoring and exploiting the athletes for decades and not budging on any kind of compensation for them wasn't a good idea after all, huh?

You do realize what Saban said had nothing to do with saving CFB, and all about pressuring boosters to pony up more $$ and go all in like AM

To be truthful, I did not like the idea of NIL and I still don't like it now. It cheapens the sport. They need to come up with a set of rules that everyone can live with and will follow without cheating. I don't know if that is possible but it is worth a try.

I’m not a huge Saban fan. I respect him for his accomplishments and hard work though. I’m glad he called Jimbo out by name. It’s about time someone had the guts to tell it like it is. Until people speak out against his blatant cheating nothing will change. I hope other coaches will decide to speak up too.
