I don't know if every program straight pays players, but I have no doubt every program gives their kids "benefits"

To be blunt I think the following programs do this: Bama, Auburn, LSU, Texas, Clemson, USC, Oregon, OU, Ohio St, Florida, Florida St, Tenn, Georgia, Okie St, and Michigan.
And your program doesn't do it too, huh?

Incorrect. What I think is even if LSU were to have a down period for a few years, like the 90's, you would still recruit at a high level partly due to less than legit recruiting methods.
This situation sounds strangely like that of Texas A&M.

Chances are, if you're winning consistently on the field you're probably engaged in some recruiting practices that are, at the very least, "frowned upon" by the NCAA. Some programs more so than others...
I'm looking at you, Clemson.
I'm looking at you, Clemson.

100$ dollar handshakes go on everywhere, but outright buying of players, doesn't happen everywhere.

bullshite. It's been proven , that when LSU isn't winning, LA recruits go elsewhere.

Everyone except for LSU.....we're squeaky clean
even Vandy cheats
even Vandy cheats

Well LSU and Vandy are the least sanctioned ,football programs, in the SEC.

Definitely agree with this. I don't think there are many programs straight up buying recruits, but there are some. ::cough,Oregon,cough::
I think a lot of the recruiting shadiness involves academic fraud to get kids qualified, use of high school coaches to push a kid to commit, and providing girls and parties to kids on visits. High profile kids visiting might get smaller amounts of money as enticement <$1000 at some programs, but I think straight up giving a kid or his parents a huge bag of money only happens at a few schools.

I think this is an extremely underrated part of recruiting "cheating" and shadiness. Most people picture some rich booster handing a kid keys to a car or a suitcase of money, but I bet finding illegal ways to get kids qualified is the most prevalent honestly.

Maybe you're just good at it.

Texas is one of the least sanctioned programs, but they are, and always have been, dirty as shite. They got away with murder during the SWC cheat-a-thon in the 1980's because the head of the NCAA enforcement committee was a Texas law professor and big-time Longhorn supporter.

Ummm..yeah. Some of these kids can't spell their name.

Actually, any school that would throw gobs of cash at Fran probably cheats poorly.
Spectacularly poorly.

Haha, that's possible. If we were cheating, you would think we would be able to at least get a couple of decent DTs in the last 5 yrs. So my theory is either we don't cheat or we suck at it.

We cheat, still do as does everyone else. We are just a lot better about it these days and pick and choose our battles.
Don't kid yourself strick, we've done it recently as has Texas and LSU. Look no further than Brenham and particular Houston schools. The coaches certainly don't condone it but we have a couple of very wealthy and smart boosters....

I'm not saying you're wrong necessarily, but what exactly about Brenham and Houston schools makes you think that? We don't have anyone on our roster from Brenham, the two we had committed last yr were grade risks and were dumped, and we didn't land Malcolm Brown or Tim Cole.
What players from Houston do you think were shady exactly? I've followed recruiting pretty closely the past couple of years, but haven't seen any red flags that would lead me to believe things aren't on the up and up.
As I already mentioned, if we are in fact cheating, how is it we haven't landed a single big time DT in the last 5 yrs when that's been a huge need?

The old ways are the best ways.

This. There are other ways around the rules. Academic ineligibility is probably, if I had to guess, the biggest example. And I don't know the NCAA rules word for word, but isn't any support from a booster "against the rules"? For some reason I want to say some alumni buying a kid lunch would be "cheating". So I guess it depends on your description of what "cheating" is.
