You don't think it's possible for a team (in this case, your team) to commit 17 fouls while the other team commits 6? I think it's entirely possible. There shouldn't be a 50-50 split in calls or even close to it when one team commits 3 times as many fouls.

So many things happened in that sequence and aftermath
1. First year allowing to "spike" the ball
2. There was a medical emergency on the sideline where a fan was having a heart attack that distracted many, including the down marker.
3. First year the Big8 made a rule to not allow the chain gang down by the goal line, and not having a full team working the down/distance
4. The announcers, both TV and Radio, caught the error live.
5. Johnson was stopped short anyway
6. Colorado still won a share of the NC
7. McCarthy, as a Mizzou alum, acted like a complete scumbag after. Would take years for him to really soften on the issue. And the Big8 was spineless
8. Colorado was also involved in another controversial call in the Bowl Game vs Notre Dame with the clipping call on the punt return that would have won the game for Notre Dame.
