I understand that. I've just never heard many people say that instead of "y'all" or "you guys."

"You all" does sound pretty awkward with our accents.

Western Arkansas raised here:

Crawdad. (Plains)

BOO-wie knife. (Texas)

Devil is beating his wife. (La & Miss)

Coke

Y'all

etc...

There is a noticeable divide running between NW and SE Arkansas on most of those. Row crop folks vs Cowboy/hill folks.

In Southeast Missouri, I heard them called crawdads, crawfish and (occasionally) mudbugs.

I've always associated both "Crawdads" and "Mudbugs" as nicknames for Crawfish rather than actual names. Can't imagine someone saying "my buddy is boiling some Crawdads tonight."

Well to be fair, crawdads is what I called them growing up in the hills of western Arkansas.

If I am going to EAT them, I call them crawfish.

They didn't really come in eating size or quantity where I'm from.

I need a ruling on pecan. The map is all over the place on that one. I pronounce it pick-AHN. My wife says PEE-kahn and I have heard people here pronounce it PEE-can.

How do y'all pronounce it?

Where exactly in western Arkansas? I spent many summers with my family along Hwy. 71 between Texarkana and Mena.

Yeah. But we like to shorten it down South. Throw the grammar out the window.

Agreed, "y'all" is a contraction of "you all". However, "you all" is much better than "you guys" when addressing females...

I have a second cousin in Arkansas who barely has any teeth left courtesy of "Meth Mouth." Her son was also just released from prison for cooking meth in his trailer.

Can't make that shite up.

That answers it. Missouri is definitely 100% northern. Thanks for the link.
