on College Football in the Seventies. I wasn’t around but for those of you who were and remember well, then I salute you!

Alabama, USC, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Notre Dame; all CFB heavyweights, contended for and won more than ONE national championship. Somehow Pittsburgh got one year in between all that.

Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Arizona State, Texas, Arkansas also had some championship caliber seasons.

Best team of the seventies? Now that’s a classic debate!

1971 Nebraska
1971 Oklahoma
1972 USC
1973 Oklahoma
1974 Oklahoma
1975 Oklahoma
1975 Alabama
1976 Alabama
1977 Alabama
1979 Alabama

So many teams to discuss.

Sorry, Sooners

It always baffled me how Lou could barely enunciate, but get his teams so well prepared and motivated in big games.

1977 is neither..

Notre Dame was the National Champ after beating #1 Texas and Earl Campbell in the Cotton Bowl.

And Texas was the National Champ in 1970.. assholes

Nah. We only need two CFB 30 for 30s right now.

A 30 for 30 on the 08/Urban Meyer Gators.

And then eventually a 5 part (Last Dance type series) on Saban after he hangs it up.

The NC you claim even though you got blown out by ND in the Cotton after the '70 season?

Alabama doesn’t even claim 1977, right?

Correct. Alabama has 1973, 1978, 1979. Their 1973 and 1978 teams don’t compare to the other teams mentioned above. There were some solid teams that weren’t poll national champions and some were mentioned in the original post.
