They're already fricked, so they might as well try to win everything.

They have to say alleged since even though they may have the tapes or copies of them, they haven't been verified by an independent source (i.e. the FBI).
That is likely why the FBI is getting involved, because now it may become as bad as a money laundering issue.

Joe Schad just said on Sportscenter that it's doubtful any punishments would come about during the season.

I doubt anyone thought there would be. NCAA investigations of this magnitude take quite a bit of time.

And who ruins LSU season again...Auburn...2004,2006, and now 2010. God I hate that shithole of a university.

Largely it could result in even worse punishment. If Auburn has any reason to doubt Cam's eligibility, it is their responsibility to hold him out.
Is it required? No, but it is expected and if the blindly ignore obvious potential incriminating evidence than the hits will be doubly hard when the sanctions are handed down.
Why did UNC do it? Why did several other teams hold out stars when their internal investigations didn't find anything?
It's about showing some attempt to ensure compliance.

Well most LSU fans are going crazy with SEC and BCS championship predictions thinking this will somehow affect AU this year. It's possible, but highly doubtful.

Basically Auburn's stance is... hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

If Newton is declared ineligible, which could happen in a matter of days, AU will lose their remaining games anyways.

lol, i called it a few weeks ago. If he still plays after this, Auburn will face a lot of issues...
