It was leaked by a longhorn muckity muck who wanted to scuttle the deal because he wants his horns in the Big 10. The reporter who broke the story tweeted that his source was not affiliated with A&M.

I will say this. If Texas ends up staying in the Big 12 I will retract my statements. Very likely they leaked all of this for contract leverage in that case. But the reality is, money is always the source of the truth. Whatever gains someone the most money is always the logical answer.
