Is there a rule they can't go twice?

Yes, actually.

Yes, College GameDay has been to the same school twice in a single season. A prominent example is Florida State in 2014, which hosted the show for a second time during that season. Several other schools, such as Clemson and Notre Dame, have also hosted twice in one season

Well, that’s not true. ETA: I pick nits. Bruins only have one Cup in the 21st century.

Fair enough, I thought they had won two.

Pittsburgh is not beautiful. Yeah, it is.

Well beauty is relative but I’m willing to bet if you asked 10k random Americans to list the 50 most beautiful cities in the US, Pittsburgh isn’t making the list for the overwhelming majority of them.

quote:

Pittsburgh is absolutely not the City of Champions More champion/HoF athletes (all sports) have come from Western/SW Pennsylvania than anywhere else. That's a proven fact. Hence, The City of Champions.

Then prove it. Cite sources and provide the data and evidence. And don’t give me that general regional nonsense either. Pittsburgh metro area only.
quote:

You obviously failed geography in school. Pittsburgh is the biggest city in Appalachia and the unofficial capital.

Literally no one in the history of this country calls it that other than you. No one thinks of Pittsburgh when they think of the Appalachians. Charleston, WV? Definitely. Knoxville? More so the Smokies specifically but in general? Sure. Asheville and Roanoke? Absolutely. Hell Pittsburgh is even the city in Pennsylvania that is most associated with Appalachia, that’d be Happy Valley.

They can also have more urban blight than southern cities, just because they’re more left leaning.
Atlanta has lots of urban blight. It’s also left leaning.

Same with Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile, Augusta, Columbus, Chattanooga, Memphis, Jackson, Tulsa, Little Rock, Baton Rouge, and NOLA, off the top of my head.

By contending that “Southern cities” aren’t blighted or left-leaning, you may mean specifically “Texas” cities. But those aren’t Southern, they’re Texan.

Athens is a crap hole.

Disagree, even when I was underage.

Never had a bad time, need to make it back. Still a shame we don't play every year, even knowing we'd get smacked.

Isn’t SC one of UGAs 3 permanent opponents starting next year?

I believe so, if remembering right.

Forgot about that, and glad to hear it. I know we're not high up on the radar for the UGA side, but there's lots of history there in the matchup and proximity of course adds to it. Just feels wrong if we don't sacrifice ourselves to y'all with a rare upset

Haven't seen any of Pitt this year. Do they have a good shot y'all think?

I am glad SC was one of UGAs three. I have enjoyed every time I went to Columbia for the game and also have had some of the best engagements with Gamecock fans in Athens.

Yes. They are elite at stopping the run and ND isn’t anything special.

AI Overview

About the Appalachian Region - Appalachian Regional Commission
There is no official capital of Appalachia, as it is a large, diverse geographical and cultural region, not a political entity. However, Charleston, West Virginia, is a major cultural and economic hub for the region, with the city and the state government promoting it as the "business, cultural and recreational capital of the Appalachian Mountains". Other cities sometimes mentioned in discussions about a "capital" of Appalachia include Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, due to its size and resources, and Knoxville, Tennessee.
Cities often discussed as a "capital"
Charleston, West Virginia: The capital of the state of West Virginia, which is entirely within the Appalachian region. The city markets itself as a key center for business, culture, and recreation in the area.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania: As the largest city in the Appalachian region, Pittsburgh is recognized for its cultural, educational, and technological resources.
Knoxville, Tennessee: A major city in the southern part of Appalachia that serves as a hub for the region.

ESPN chose the SEC why worry with implied bias, the metrics tell them to stay in the SEC, that is what draws all the TV sets

And McAfee 's. He going to be in rare form Saturday.

Pat McAfee is always in rare form. He's a world class level entertainer that knows college football and tailors his performances to a tee to each hometown. He's instanly taken lead role on Gameday while Kirk, Desmond, and Saban are mesmerized and awed by his presentations week in and week out.

Gameday hit the jackpot with McAfee. He has saved the show and elevated its quality in the face of competion from Fox.

For real cfb junkies, he's a treasure. There's no one near him.

In 2017, Miami was second in the nation and two wins from a CFP berth. But freshman Kenny Pickett produced three touchdowns (one passing, two rushing), and unranked Pitt shocked the Hurricanes 24-14.

Once per decade, Pitt absolutely ruins a top team's season at home. It hasn't happened in the 2020s, but maybe we're due?
