Kentucky was impressive last night. Pope is very good coach who knows how to implement his style and find guys who fit it. Exactly what you want in a modern college basketball coach.

I think the way Pope managed his guys minutes was the difference. Duke was playing some really tough defense but guys can't keep that up when they are playing 35+ minutes.

When you lose to a stripped-down Kentucky team that supposed to have been blown out, it puts questions about Duke for the rest of the season; especially since Carolina will be good this year. A decline was inevitable post-Coach K; this could be the start of it.

Kentucky is going to prison rape Tennessee this year.

The spread was Duke -5.5 at tipoff. Nice try though.

There's no reason to think Duke won't also be good this year. Flagg is the best freshman in the country, even if he was gassed late.

I don't see how y'all even respond to these trolls.

Ya, I get it, it's hard not to at times.

They also acted like this was some amazing coaching job for Pope to have a team like this within 8 months of his hiring, like he could do it anywhere.

it's UK. yalls name alone brings in top players.

Well, we play twice. I don't either one will result in a prison raping. We also play Bama twice this year. Gonna be fun.

You guys are still the team to beat.

Think we’ll have problems in the post, especially physical teams like Bama/Auburn.

But, this guy can coach so I’m sure he’ll run some zone against you guys.

Yes, they are the team to beat. The conference is still Bama's to lose.

Edit: They play State twice? How the frick does that work out?

Billy Gillispie is a good example of you can bring in decent guys but that doesn't mean it'll all click.

In Pope's defense, he was hired in mid-April so he was way behind the 8-ball from a recruiting perspective and literally everyone left. Perry was the only committed guy that stayed. It is a pretty amazing job to get those roster pieces (lets not pretend like the portal isn't highly competitive) and to get them playing well together this early.

Also to speak to the coaching piece, this was some of the adjustments Pope made at the half.

That made my head hurt. Even as an armchair coach.

Bilas told the story how Pope gathered the team together and asked what they were brining to the team. Robinson, the only BYU transfer, said he’s going to be “The Translator”.

You need an Ezekiel begot Malaki decoder ring to understand all that.

You seen our team?

We are going to run you guys out of the building!

Cal so disassembled your team you had to go get walk-ons to fill the roster.

the SEC has 8 ranked teams, and the ACC has 2?
