Who ever wrote the article. I thought I saw something in a thread a while back that someone talked to her and she said it was a misunderstanding. Is this true?

I'm just trying to keep track of what's truth and what's rumor

I doubt she would. Most journalist never recant their story and even if its proven to be unfounded. Shes did that with the Duke Lacrosse story.

@KevinScarbinsky: Selena Roberts: I taped most of the interviews in the original story. The players are quoted accurately and in context.

I doubt she will. The count still won't admit she fricked up in her article about the Duke Lacrosse bullshite that happened. Journalists these days just throw shite out there and aren't forced to account for their accusations. Look at Pete Thamel, Thayer Evans, and whoever was writing about the T-Town Menswear bullshite. It all just magically fades into history.

I doubt she'll play any tapes for a while, even if she actually does have them. She will draw this controversy out for as long as she can.

so to recap.

ESPN ran the story.

Than the writer says that it was all misunderstood?

Does she not want any credibility left? I mean you have the balls to go public with this whole thing, than when the first person calls her out, she back tracks?
I'm not caught up at all. As I understand it, writer posts a story to an obscure website, ESPN then (instead of doing their own work) reports the story that a writer posted this story to the other website and all hell breaks loose. Several of the players "quoted" in the original story have denied their quotes as they were presented in the original story.

I have read the original story and it is a hit piece that tries to implicate without any or many facts that the coaches tried to cover up the felony 4, that the coaches run the police department, that Muschamp gave McNeil $400, that coaches offered Darvin Adams money to stay and that coaches got grades changed prior to the BCS championship game.

All, some or none of it may be true, but the evidence is lacking at the moment.

This is the least believable part of the story to me

Well albeit as it may, I think it's time we bring back Bluetickhound, BlueTuna, and the notions of AU coaches killing people in Virginia Beach, VA.

I'm biased, but this seems to be the only allegation in the whole thing that might have some legs and that worries me a little. I suspect this happens everywhere, but now there is a reason for the NCAA to look into it at Auburn.

It may be the least believeable, but (IMO) it's the only thing in the article that could potentially harm Auburn with the NCAA...

- Most of the players have backtracked (except Adams)... I don't see them turning on AU to the NCAA.
- The drug test is an internal issue. No NCAA punishment.
- McNeil is going to prison just like Goodwin. After the Nevin Shapiro debacle, the NCAA will not be taking the word of a convicted felon as evidence in an investigation.
- The only real grade changing accusation with any sort of detail was McNeil's.... and he actually earned a B based on classwork... hardly an earth-shattering event.

This article is definitely interesting, but it would appear the truth lies somewhere in the middle (between Roberts' account and the players' denial). To me, I don't see any of this turning into NCAA allegations.
