Very disingenuous reasoning. 2 Power 5 conferences played very shortened seasons. Basically eliminating 2 entire conference worth of players from competing for the Heisman because they could not generate comparable stats

What a weird way to admit you played 4 cupcakes.

Don’t let facts get in the way. USC played 6 games. Ohio State (who made the championship) played 5 regular season games, lol. Then was missing a chunk of its roster for the game against Bama.

Is that supposed to be a point in their favor? All it does to me is show how 60% of the country don’t even play double digit games that season. Michigan and Ohio State didn’t even play each other that year. That’s how unimportant that season was.

What are you even talking about right now?
That's margin of victory just for the SECCG and the CFP.

On a side note:
Can we all appreciate that Notre Dame has made the playoffs twice... and those teams are 35th and 33rd out of 36th?

35. 2018 Notre Dame (12-1)
CFP result: Lost to Clemson 30-3
The Fighting Irish earned their spot in the playoff with increasingly dominant wins over quality Michigan, Stanford and Syracuse teams. Their defense was solid and exciting (10th in defensive SP+), but their offensive limitations were made crystal clear when they had to face Clemson in the Cotton Bowl. The game was tied after one quarter, but it got much, much worse from there.

33. 2020 Notre Dame (10-2)
CFP result: Lost to Alabama 31-14
The Irish beat a Trevor Lawrence-less Clemson in overtime and proved physical, mature and adaptable while starting the season 10-0. But in their final two games, against Clemson at full strength in the ACC championship game and Alabama in the Rose Bowl, the Irish got their doors blown off. They were outscored 65-24, and while they managed to keep Alabama within 17 points, it was with a strategy that almost seemed designed to lose by the smallest possible margin.

Probably the toughest collection of opponent QBs ever:

Trask
Several other drafted QBs

how that Alabama team took the field against cardboard cutouts is a true "Profile in Courage."
Even Greg McElroy laughs at the notion of that team being the best ever.

SP+ is a predictive metric, not a resume metric. Not sure why Bill Connelly is even using that.
Even so, his SP+ formula didn’t even have 2019 LSU ranked #1 in 2019 after going 15-0
So yea, this is definitive as frick

I wouldn’t hang my hat on his opinion. His takes are as bad as Stephen’s.

Except Brian Kelly's one and only win vs a #1 team. That counted.

Let me know when Alabama (or ANY team) beats 7-top 10 teams in the same year. Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

It also sounds like they're giving that Alabama team an advantage as a result of having Nick Saban compared to Ed Orgeron.

That literally has nothing to do with what you’re responding to. Did you think you got him with that?
