but that team was not on the level of a 2019 LSU squad

They were at least in the same ballpark, even after Waddle went down.

They weren't.

Mac Jones was a good quarterback

He had one of the best seasons ever by a cfb QB, even after one of the most explosive players in the nation went down. He was an all-time GREAT QB in 2020.

I'm not even arguing that 2019 LSU wasn't better than 2020 Bama, its just funny how wrapped up in them being the best ever you guys are.

It’s just cheap heat by ESPN. Their rankings overall are horrid,

The advanced stats aren’t cheap, but maybe his other factors are.

TD should rename "SEC Rant" to "Garbage Trolling".

You know it's sad when this is getting up voted. There is no argument for 2019 bama being better than 2020. They were worse at everything. Literally everything. What are y'all smoking?

Just curious, but why do people think that 2019 Alabama is better than 2020 Alabama?

It's not people, it's only LSU fans.

2020 bama, 2019 Clemson all have great defense. However 2019 lsu defense is a step below

a step below indeed. They didn't even finish in the top half of the conference.

I don't know. Pretty much everyone in here saying it is just a way to to discredit the 2020 team. So I don't think they actually are using any real evidence

By a covid team. Biggest asterisk of all time.

Let me know when Alabama (or ANY team) beats 7-top 10 teams in the same year. Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

And 2020 being the year that Texas 8&4, Cincinnati, Indiana and Coastal Carolina all finished in the Final AP Top 10.

Let us know when ANY team does that.

I think deep down everyone knows the 2020 Bama team is the GOAT. If you don’t, you’re really really really stupid.

Bow down, b*tches.

Alabama 2019 was better.

More talent, yes.

Had 2019 Tua not been injury plagued, could he have surpassed both LSU 2019 and Bama 2020, maybe.

But, 2020 Bama, for any variety of reasons and accounting for all the context of the season, was simply one of the best "teams" I have ever seen. They absolutely played for each other and exceeded all expectations.

None of that takes away from LSU.

Glorious did not “correctly state” all LSU fans do not want 2020 to count.

LSU fans simply look at facts and prove that 2020 Alabama was not even close to being the “best team in the playoff era” nor “the best team ever”. Hell, Alabama fans even acknowledge this.

#1 was obviously and easy pick, greatest team of the era.

Amazing that #2 seemed like a slam dunk all-timer only to immediately be surpassed.

Your insecurity is embarrassing. I'm sorry LSU has the literal greatest team of all time and not your gumps.

2020 bama was no doubt a great team. But in the context of comparing them to other great teams, the fact they played during the fubar covid season does not allow for a fair comparison.

No previous years “great teams” had the advantage of getting to play all road games in empty stadiums with no crowd noise. Big advantage for an offense.

2020 Bama’s national championship game opponent was a 7 win team who had the unfortunate luck of losing several starters due to “covid” right before the game.

Comparing 2020 Alabama to any other great teams before and after is comparing apples and oranges. There is no logical way to compare. They are in a category by themselves unfortunately

What matters is how they finished. Not how they started.

All this ranked when we played them stuff is bullshite and the AP poll doesn't count. Not even a little.

According to the final CFP rankings, LSU only beat 4 top ten teams.

3. Clemson
4. Oklahoma
5. Georgia
9. Florida

By contrast.

2020 Alabama beat (according to the final CFP rankings)

3. Ohio State
4. Notre Dame (the boy grinder version)
5. Texas A&M
7. Florida

Alabama finished the season better.
