Actually most “experts” and sports media in ore season had the Vols going 7-5. Prior to the season starting ESPN FPI had us only favored in 7 games.
At SEC media days the media had UT #3 in the East and #8 in the SEC. UT also only had 1 All-SEC pre season 1st team and that was Byron Young. No one expected UT to be doing what they are doing this year. Also let’s not forget that UT started the season unranked.

I think that UT is good and could very well win it all, but man, the melt and flaming that will ensue if they don't. They've basically have only reached the level of 2014 Mississippi State at this point.

I missed The Bulldogs beating Bama that year I guess...
Georgia is the only losable game on our schedule if we don't lose Hooker. Our "meltdown" floor is going 11-1 and getting left out of the playoffs like A&M did in 2020.

Pretty much. I will cheer for my Alma Mater in underwater basket weaving but that doesn't really make me much of a fan of it. That said, I thought it was funny as hell that this board lost their minds over the basevols. I remember the threads about Vitello bumping an ump and I was expecting something at least on par with Pruitt attacking a white board and coming away terribly disappointed when all it was Vitello getting in an ump's face. The reactions to Tony V and the Basevols convinced me that CBB fans know CBB is boring and they want to keep it that way. It's reminiscent of Golf pre-Tiger Woods.

LAst year's BaseVOLS were an epic troll on this entire boarding community, in much the same way as the 2017 VOLS coaching search.

Why? It’s year 2 of a total rebuild. The Vols were unranked in the preseason and have a huge flaw in the passing D. This is purely house money for the Vols. The melt/flame if they do win a championship will be glorious though. With UGA fans LARPING like they have Bamas trophy case and Bama fans proclaiming this was their most talented year? If the Vols can come in and steal both their lunch money? I’ll be ok with a playoff loss to tOSU.

Lol no one will melt. The only people melting will be fans of other teams. We were 3-7 2 yrs ago, had 35 players leave in transfer portal, tons of recruits decommit, and hired a new coach. We were unranked to start the season, and if you had told most tn fans before season we would even be 10-2 to and sugar bowl trip then, they woulda said HELL YES. Its been a fun run reguardless of saturday, or cfp. Not going to let cfp ruin what fun its been
