There aren't enough good teams in those three conferences to fill out a top 10 without the SEC.

The SEC fricked up a good thing when they had it. Back in the early 2000's the Big Ten was better than the SEC. The SEC then became the dominant league when Saban left the Big Ten and went to LSU (a rising tide and all that).
And things were good for awhile.
But then we admitted Texas into the league. Texas has a well documented history of destroying conferences simply due to their Texas'ness ways.
The rest is a foregone conclusion. Give it another 5 years. Teams will be leaving this conference.

A 3 loss sec team is still going to make the playoff over Texas tech once you lose to byu in the big 12 championship game.
