Not to derail, but I can also name the dumbest play run against my team:

Kick. Pick.

The 1997 Iron Bowl.

We're up 17-15 with 51 seconds to play. It's 3rd & 10 on our own 35-yard line. We call a FB screen to Ed Scissum who promptly fumbles the football. Auburn recovers and kicks the game winning field goal.

Bruce Arians was fired by Mike DuBose for this play.

Croom beat MIKE SHULA, not Saban. Huge, colossal, stupendous, enormous, gigantic difference.

LSU @ Ole Miss (2000)

Tigers score with just over 4 minutes to go in the game, take an 11 point lead. Instead of kicking the extra point to go up 12, Saban goes for 2 and Booty is tackled before crossing the goal line. Luckily we were playing Ole Miss

What? Saban's first season was 2007. You guys beat a horrendous Alabama team that finished 6-7 under Shula that year.

You did beat Saban though in his first year. I'll never forget JPW throwing a 100-yard pick 6 to end the half.

spiking the ball on 4th down with no time left or toss dive against one of the great front 7s in the history of college football.

That play completely changed the complexion of the game. While we couldn't punch it into the end zone, the offense was moving the ball effectively. We would have been up 12-3 at the half at the very worst. Instead Wilson makes the bonehead decision to force something that wasn't there. MSU had all the momentum after that and we couldn't do squat with the ball for the rest of the game.

Had to be offense, only Les is retarded enough to abandon his pound the rock mentality at the worst possible time in a game.

We have had Lane Kiffin, Derek Dooley, and Butch Jones as successive head coaches.

... and you want me to pick just one?

Probably not the dumbest, but I still wonder about that fake punt vs Texas in the 09 BCS Championship.

This one came to mind.

Others that came to mind that haven't been mentioned:

1. Every play Shula left Prothro in vs Florida.

2. The pass play Nuss called vs Texas A&M near the goal that got picked off to end the game.

3. The times Shula let Tiffin try to kick yet again vs Arkansas.

Reggie Herring coached our bowl game vs. Miz. after Nutt had been fired. He ran a fake punt that worked but got called back for a penalty. So we had to replay the down and he ran the exact same fake punt. Every Miz. defender was waiting for it. I left the house and bought whiskey.

Nah. I'd have to say letting Jeremy "Twinkle Toes" Johnson run on 4th and inches against Clemson, while Kam Pettway is standing on the sidelines, was worse. Kam could've picked that up easily, and we score a go ahead touchdown.

Saban was in the NFL in 06.
