He says Gainesville is home and he likes the Gators. He has a song called Gainesville He's worked on campus at UF and did a big concert in Gainesville with Stevie Nicks. Dunno. Maybe it’s because UF is trying to claim a semi famous rocker who had a few good records as their own. I once read an article that reported that Tom Petty didn’t like the Gators. It mentioned something about frat boys giving him a hard time back in the day

Burt Reynolds was a player for FSU. As a Gator fan, I will say he's still a fricking legend.
It doesn't matter what schools that legends are associated with, some things just transcend college football.
