You mean to the east? If that happened goodbye to permanent opponents.
Yes. That's what I meant. Auburn will probably move to the east and TSIO would be eliminated. Again if it was up to me, I would never have expanded to begin with. Having more than 12 teams in a conference is overkill and should only be a move made out of the necessity. 14 teams makes sense for a conference like the ACC who are fighting to survive and have a weak football history and geographical footprint. For the Big Ten and SEC, the costs outweigh the benefits IMO. If Texas A&M wanted to be in the SEC so badly, they should have joined the conference with Arkansas 25 years ago.

Oklahoma is joined at the hip with Ok State, I don't think legislatures in Oklahoma would ever allow it.
The SEC would take Virginia Tech for Virginia and the DC markets, and they would try for one of the NC schools. They would probably only have a shot at NC State.

Financially, it doesn't make any sense to allow the Sooners to join the SEC. From a personal and nostalgic standpoint, it would be kinda cool to have them in the same conference again. All the negative financial reasons why outweigh this though.
As also stated, OU made their bed so let them lay in it. They really had no choice but to line up with Bevo when Mizzou and aTm left, so I get that, but still left a bad taste in my mouth after being conference bros with them for so long.
Bottom line for me is, I would hate to see the conference expand when it's about as big as you can get to making it work schedule wise. I don't like the pod system, I'm more a traditionalist and would hate to see those SEC rival games vanish for the sole purpose of expanding.
I doubt OU would get the necessary votes to be able to join either, as I see atleast three votes against them.
Texas, no way in hell they should be allowed to join with the shite they pulled in the past, and no doubt, would pull in the future. It's just who they are, it's in their dna. Like OU, they would certainly have votes against them joining and rightfully so.

Good thing you don't make the decisions.

Literally no one wanted Mizzou in the SEC. At least OU would be able to seal the deal in a conference title game.

The Sooners may be the next Nebraska. Both were major national brands in the Big 8 but realignment has been not so good since. Sooners have been in decline for quite some time and staying in the B12 will continue to drain them. Nebrska jumped but life in the B1G is still about OSU and UM so I look for the Nebraska brand to dwindle over time. Same will happen to the Sooners no matter where they jump to.
The knowledge of teams outside the SEC on this board sometimes astounds me. I remember when Mizzou and A&M joined and hearing how Mizzou was on UK's level in football and how A&M had no accomplishments. Now OU is on the decline?
Last 10 seasons... 5 top 10 seasons and 5 BCS games including a national title appearance.

F*ck additional expansion. 12 was fantastic. 14 is more of a hassle. 16 would suck. Expansion really decreases conference cohesion IMO.
SEC doesn't need any more "traditional powers." We already have the Big Six as well as several other teams that are fully capable of making big runs.
If we absolutely had to add, I would want teams in NC and VA. If Texas came calling we would probably take them even though in the long run we would regret it.

Stoops reminds me of a yapping chihuahua, barking at the big dogs on the other side of the window.
Put him outside with the big dogs and he won't want any part of it for long.

You folks wanting Texas have not a damn clue.
they would ruin this league. I would also imagine, if OU and OSU ever left the Big12 Texas would want to stay just because they would be the big fish in the small pond.

Only if we kick a few teams out first.

No doubt. Tulsa and Oklahoma City are good markets as well.

Ya know, even though we were a part of the recent expansion into the SEC, and damn glad of it. I totally get this and understand. 12 is the ideal number, 14 is a bit of a hassle, but doable, 16 no way.

No, they own the SEC's soul.

The SEC already has the most competitive conference by far. At some point we have to consider how tough is too tough. If we end up with 4 superconferences of 16 teams, do we really want the other 3 conferences to have 3 or 4 power teams each while the SEC has 8 or 9? Especially if only one team from each conference goes to the playoffs.

That's simply not true.
At least KU won an Orange Bowl. Mizzou never even made it to a BCS Bowl. Mizzou is still trying to recover from the scars Mangino left on their little program.

The state of Oklahoma has millions of fewer potential cable subscribers than the states of North Carolina or Virginia. That is what matters.
