You do know the NCAA does not govern the CFP right?

If the NCAA was smart they would create a CFP for the G5's they could control and the actual CFP would be happy because no chance of a G5 making the CFP and creating a lowly viewed game which would piss off the advertisers.

win - win

CFP = owned by the P5's
G5's = governed by the NCAA
FCS = governed by the NCAA

If OU or Clemson had won on Monday night, this gay UCF stuff doesn’t exist. The anti-Bama and anti-SEC crowd is melting worst than the 2016 election. It’s glorious

Y'all are all over the place with this narrative- you need to get your story straight. So all LSU fans seem to believe that Bama has the SEC and all their refs bought and paid for. Ok, got it. Are you saying we own the nation as well, and the entire US sports world wants Bama to succeed? Now that's fricking awesome!

So you would enjoy watching the #8 seed with ZERO fans at the game get beat by the #1 seed 65-3. If they went to an 8 team Playoff more than half the games would be blowouts and attendance would lower drastically. There will NEVER be a Cinderella College Football National Champion.

UFC beat Auburn because Auburn had ZERO motivation. They didn't want to play or even be there. The same thing happens every year. Some shitty FCS or minor conference team has a good season and gets invited to a decent bowl game against an elite or major team having a mediocre season and the underdog wins. Among the Bluebloods & real elites who expect to reach the playoffs or National Championship game every year Bowl games are a dissapointment - the players aren't motivated and they play poorly and lose games they should easily win.

Motivation makes all the difference in the world. Consolation Bowl games for Bluebloods and elites are unreliable indicators of their true quality. The underdog always plays over their heads because they're SUPER-MOTIVATED.

Put Auburn up against UCF in a game that has consequences and Auburn blows them out.

For all these reasons and the fact the Conference Championship games and many regular season games would become irrelevant an 8 team Playoff will NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER happen.

Actually this is completely false

Especially in 20 years or so when the generation that doesn't give a shite about the sanctity of bowls comes of age and has grown up knowing only the BCS and Playoffs.

Expansion is inevitable.

YES.

In fact it would RESTORE some of the value to finishing the season #1, giving meaning back to the regular season that it's already lost.

Also, what if they don't lose? Then you have an upset they make movies about later. Sorry, there's know way you can argue otherwise without sounding like an elitist snob. There will NEVER be a Cinderella champion if you never allow it. Coastal Carolina and Leicester City have proven that you can't say never even at the highest levels.

Motivation is the excuse of losers and has been since the beginning of sport.

8 Team playoff is inevitable... because you're opinions will counts for a hill of beans when we're all 80 and our grandkids are running the world and have no allegiance to this broken way of approaching a sport.

Huh?If they 8 teams this year it would be highly doubtful UCF gets in anyway.Who would play in this 65-3 mismatch talk?BOTH higher seeds lost and I cannot see
this Clemson team rolling over a PSU,Ohio State,Auburn
Wisconsin or whoever the the 5-8 teams would have been.

Zero fans?IF the 1st round is played on campus this won't happen.

I've seen plenty of underdogs get waxed in bowl games
by "bluebloods" If there was a clear pattern Vegas would have a caught on a while ago despite what happened with Bama and Utah/Oklahoma.

Every year?Thought ND/LSU,SC/UM,WF/A&M,AU/UCF were all
entertaing.

No they won't especially if the winner gets a guareenteed slot.

Yes,it will.As stated earlier there's way too much money on the line not to and schools spend money as fast as they make it.Its potentially a $1 billion payout if expanded to 8 teams and schools aren't gonna say no.

Having said all that,I completely agree that the playoffs are fine as is.

I think an 8 team playoff would be a large enough field to install a caveat that any undefeated team earns an automatic berth.

Imagine if 2008 Utah got to move on and play Florida for it all. After handling a team that lead UF most of their game.

As long as 128 FBS college presidents want to continue to promote the perception that college football players are actually students, it will be a cold day in hell before the playoffs expand.

Please,it's not much of a concern for basketball or baseball and at least CFB players have a good deal of
time off in December and January.

The playoffs were created to make more money. No other reason. As soon as some network can afford to pay enough there will be an 8 team playoff.

One problem with that. The players don't decide who they play.

At some point, the sheer number of games is a factor. College baseball, a non-contact sport, has less than half the games a MLB season does. Same in college basketball. College hockey teams are limited to just 34 games, again less than half of their professional counterparts.

But we want the most physically demanding college sport to play almost as many games as most NFL teams play.

True, and an 8 team playoff would favor the teams that didn't have a conference championship. Playing in 4 top 10 matchups in a row would put a beating on any team
