IMO No!

Has Alabama ever had a QB leave early?
I can't remember if there is one that has, "but I don't think so."

AJ McCarron is all about Crimson Tide football and CNS and to prove that AJ's tatoo reads "Bama Boy" that should answer your question.

Namath played in the Senior Bowl his last year (and was named to the all time Senior Bowl team) and every website I've seen labels Stabler's last year as his senior season.

Yall are nuts. McCarron is absolutely good enough to make to the NFL.

He's Ken Dorsey, but not as good. If you don't see that, you're blind.

People keep saying he'd like to come back to try to win a third ring if Bama wins this year.

It would actually be his fourth given that he was McElroy's backup in 2009.

No. Draft status will be much higher next year.

Ken Dorsey had an absolute NOODLE for an arm and completed less than 60% of his passes for his career despite playing against Big East competition with the most talented CFB team of all-time.

I don't think it's that bad of a comparison. Dorsey was a good college QB.

Might as well come back and try to be a first rounder

If the Gumps win the NC, he would be stupid not to leave. His stock isn't getting any higher than a b2b NC QB. His arm isn't getting any better and he won't get any faster. I could see him in the NFL as a back-up and maybe a future coach. Not a bad way to start his life after college.

His draft stock won't get any higher. He could easily get hurt. He won't have the same OL. The only reason to stay would be if he doesn't believe that he has the talent to play in the NFL. Saban will have a different spin but I hope AJ sees through his bs.

Dorsey was a good college QB but McCarron is far more physically talented and a much better NFL prospect. Dorsey's arm strength was well below-average for a college QB much less a NFL QB. He just got by on smarts and was fortunate to have a great supporting cast. The two players aren't even remotely comparable.

I think he's gone regardless. Another year isnt going to improve his stock much, if any. He already has all the tools.

If that is the case, why in the world shouldn't he enter the NFL draft after this year? Take your Gump hat off for a minute and put yourself in his shoes. Should he risk his future career just because he is a lifelong Bama fan and therefore should put that before his personal (best) interests?

Would you guys be pissed at AJ if he decided to put himself first and do what is best for him? Another NC will get him drafted a little higher this year. He will lose that hype with a 1-2 loss season so why take that chance. Why risk an injury?

I think there is a chance. It's not as inconceivable that he would get a good draft grade as some would like make out. Franchises are desperate for a QB in a league that's becoming all about the QB. Just look at some of the first round QBs the last few years.
