The rules of football are constantly changing. The forward pass used to be illegal.

I know, but there is no reason to change the rules to hinder the HUNH except BB wants a competitive advantage. The conversation was why people didn't buy his player safety concerns.

So it seems like he has only faced a HUNH offense twice. Once against Arkansas when Gus was the OC and once when he played ORegon in the Rose Bowl.

I dont think that is a large enough sample size to make any determination to player safety or any competitive advantage...esp when he won one of those games.

No no no... according to Arkansas fans, Gus wasn't the OC during the bowl game. Nutt took over because Gus sucked.

So they have actually never faced each other in a game.

He isn't taking data from only games he has coached.

The data was compiled over every game HUNH teams played with injuries statistics comparing teams not playing HUNH offenses, according to him at media days.

He also brought up the changes in kick off rules and the reduced number of injuries that have resulted.

Of course people remember the swinging gate with Mustain snapping the ball to Felix while the team appeared to be huddled on the sideline and hiding Reggie Fish behind the line more than his subbing practices.
I remember that, I liked it but thought it was high-schoolish at he time and thought Nutt was a clown for doing it. (I didn't know Gus Malzhan from Adam's house cat back then, I thought Nutt was the brain behind that offense.)

Well, according to Auburn fan's Chizik interfered with Gus running his offense, so he never won a SEC or MNC either.

So it was Chizik running the offense?

Interdasting...

Everything you post is wrong.

First you said Bret and Gus had never coached against each other. When that was proven false you said it was when both coaches were coordinators. Wrong again.

Now you say Bret has only played against a HUNH twice, one of those being against Arkansas. Do you even think when you post or is it like a stream of consciousness sort of thing?

Or, he was so good he was able to win it despite the interference.

Why is he concerning himself with other games?

IS this some "for the greater good of the game" path he is on them?

If he wants to slow down HUNH offense to "help prevent injuries", he needs to play ball control with his offense, improve his S&C, and creat more three and outs.

Because he has been part of NCAA rules committees in the past?

Why does any coach concern themselves with watching game film of opponents playing anyone other than their team? Nothing can be learned from it, apparently.

Bert beat the shite out of a run based HUNH offense last year.

Who the hell was running that AU offense in 2009? 2010? 2011?

If GM was in control of the '09 CTodd offense that was productive, and the CNewton offense that was productive then WTH wasn't he in control of the BTrotter/KFrazer offense of '11 that was so stagnant that many AU fans wanted it purged from the Plains?

Good for him. Hope he can do it to aTm and OM this year without the need for a rules change.
