Yep. LSU has an overwhelming amount of talent and depth, which makes it so puzzling when they undercut themselves against inferior opponents. That is where the fans frustration with the coaching staff hits the ceiling.

I keep hearing Bama fans say that LSU is "a big game" and LSU considers Bama "the big game". As fans you might think that but hearing your players and coaches talk they are acutely aware of how massive this game has become. Bama doesn't play tight they just can't do what they regularly do against everybody else. Two great teams that play their asses off against each other, fun to watch.

Too tight. Not this year we should have run more because AJ played a bad game except for two drives. He missed several wide open receivers under no pressure all night. Had Mingo and Montgomery been hitting him or pressuring him I could understand but the poor performance was all on his shoulders. Still think he is a good qb and everyone has that game but there was not a defense in the nation that could stop Mettenberger from throwing Saturday night. He was in a zone.

I think LSU finally played up to their capabilities. Mett showed why he was so highly thought of. They showed why they were preseason #1. Much respect to the Tigers. Kudos to them for a great game.

Bama showed that they are vulnerable but they also showed that when it's crunch time, they'll step up as needed.

What the frick are you talking about?

You give us a compliment, and at the same time throw In a backhanded opinion that completely deflates any and all points you were trying to make.

Maybe LSU is just as good a team, but hit some awful luck in the front half of the schedule to go along with a green QB.

I keep seeing some say we won't have that offensive production again..well Robot, Hill has rushed for over 100+ the past three games behind a patchwork OLine. Next we get State, and all indications show they struggle with stopping the run.

Great game bama. It was one I won't soon forget. Hung out with some great fans at our two tailgates. Your offense was in a corner all second half thanks to the intimidating arena know as Death Valley and our stifling defense, but when it mattered most you pulled through. Exactly what great teams do.

That's how you compliment. Don't tell us we have a great defense, and then say you think you played to light or your worst game. It's a slap in the face to yet another bump in the road this season.

Why does Alabama always not play their "A game" against LSU, on a consistent basis? There's a pattern.

quote:

AJ seemed to be nervous at times

Why only against LSU?

quote:

Last year we shot ourselves in the foot with penalties and not finishing drives on 11/5

Again, against LSU.

I think we did much better in the NC, but at that point we really had nothing to lose.

Congrats to the Alabama team and coaching staff on an outstanding job 1/9.

quote:

LSU is a great team

Debatable, but they are definitely showing signs of improvement. LSU has sustained a lot of injuries, but that's football. It is what it is. LSU is still a very good team, IMO.

I think even Saban gets a little extra stressed when heading into this game.

Not sure about that.

You can't be serious.

Didn't Alabama have the number 1 recruiting class for 3 years in a row or something? You don't get any more talented than that.

So you're either full of shite, or you're saying Miles is better at developing talent then Saban.

Why do you guys always play your worst game of the season against LSU?

I think it had more to do with what LSU did than what Bama didn't do. LSU is a damn good team that beat the shite out of Bama Saturday.

Mel Kiper apparently believes LSU is a more talented team than Alabama.

quote:

Mel Kiper: The prism of early-season polls will drive the storyline that Alabama might be better than we think after totally dismantling a Michigan team that was ranked No. 8, but the result was predictable, and doesn't change the fact that if it's a question of the team with the most talent in the SEC, I'll still give a slight edge to the LSU Tigers.

A couple of weeks ago, I ranked college football teams based on guys who I currently have pegged as locks to be drafted. I had LSU slightly outpacing Alabama, and one game doesn't change that. LSU currently has four players on the Big Board, led by dominating defensive linemen Barkevious Mingo and Sam Montgomery. Alabama currently has one, with Warmack. LSU also outpaces Bama in terms of overall talent in my deeper positional rankings, again just barely.

1. Mel has an opinion.

2. Alabama/Nick Saban has consistently out-recruited LSU/MIles the past 4 to 5 years (or whatever time frame) according to most recruiting sites.

You can't have it both ways. When Alabama narrowly wins, or loses, you can't turn around and say LSU is more talented, but when the recruits sign letters of intent, say Alabama has the #1 recruiting class.

LSU played a hell of a game on both sides of the ball. Seemed like everyone on LSU as making plays.

BAMA looked really flat and uninspired in the 1st Qtr. In the 3rd and 4th Qtr, LSU's defense played lights out. Period. I dont think one team is more talented than the other.

I think LSU wanted to win that game more than BAMA. There were some questionable coaching decisions made by LSU's staff. BAMA was able to take advantage of them and squeak out a Win in Baton Rouge.

Let's not get carried away. Teams that get the shite beat out of them don't win. It's a rule.

LSU is your equal, and has played Saban close every time except on 1/9.

They supposedly never come to play for their biggest game of the regular season, I guess.

Someone's using logic. Many bama posters in here know we beat their arse most of that game and are making weak attempts at excuses. But then we are talking about bama fans.
