So the opposite of 2011 happens and LSU beats ALA 21-0

I expect LSU to beat them and Ohio St and Stanford to play for the BCSCG.

Kinda thinking a little similarly, especially with Clemson. The media love for Clemson is strong, and if y'all wind up having "close" wins, a buzz could get going about y'alls (lack of) schedule.

If I were y'all, I'd for sure be worried about style points in the Tennessee game. I could see the "common opponent" talk in December going against y'all if you don't drill Rocky Top.

Those two are the only two that would concern me. I'm not saying I think it would happen. I just think there are a lot of people out there who want nothing more than to see the SEC streak come to an end...a LOT of people. And while I don't think Clemson's schedule would trump ours, if they were to blow people away they might jump us in the polls...and God knows how those computers figure their rankings.

Honestly, it would be good for the sport if the SEC didn't win it all this year.

Kind of agree. BUT having said that it's clear Bama doesn't need to beat a 1 loss LSU. Just lose within 10 pts or so at home. They'll still be ranked in the top 4 and ahead of LSU. Then hope LSU stomps A&M then Georgia. ESPN will ensure that everyone KNOWS 'Bama is really still the best team, but just had a bad game - at home.

SEC champ LSU gets left out of BCSNC which ESPNBCS pits Oregon/Ohio St. against 'Bama.

Can it really play out any other way?

Thinking more along these lines.....

1. Many in the media are looking for a reason to dethrone Alabama.

2. A win against Tennessee that's not as impressive as Oregon's may give some voters a reason for them to let Oregon jump you.

3. The national perception seems to be that the SEC isn't AS dominant via Clemson's wins vs. LSU and Georgia.

4. If Oregon, Clemson, Bama, and Ohio State are undefeated at year end, everything will get discussed. Common opponent (thus results of Tennessee game would be important to Bama), perceived "downgrade" of SEC, Bama's easier SEC schedule, etc.

I don't think it's as locked up as folks calling me a dumb frick think. Bama's not built to house teams like Oregon is. It'll be interesting to see what happens to the votes after Bama beats Tennessee by 3 touchdowns. I think you'll see some folks in the media remind folks that Oregon beat them by 40+, and they lose some votes.

You really are a dumb frick for thinking they'd drop the team that just won back to back national championships over Clemson.

No nice way of saying it.

Haven't you heard? You and I are crack smoking dumb fricks.

There's no way an undefeated Bama gets in, even if they win every game 3 - 2 from here on out, Oregon wins every game by 40+, and Clemson wins out by 40+. Everyone loves Bama, and the entire nation would love to see them win the next 31 national championships. Rest easy, my friend, you've just got to win, and no matter what anyone else does, you're in.

Edit: No way an undefeated Bama gets left out....

It rarely is. For some reason, there's always a number of people who want to act like something CAN'T happen and you're stupid for thinking it (I had a similar thing happen Saturday with another Bama fan who knew that Northwestern COULDN'T win against Ohio State...and then believed that the close loss vindicated his position.)

There have been plenty of things happen in college football in recent years (that just COULDN'T happen) to make me give pause - like multiple title contenders losing in the last two weeks, or a team looking like Temple one week and looking like the Green Bay Packers the next. This is a legitimate question - the way people see things today may be incredibly different in 2 or 3 weeks, not to mention the rest of the season.

If you REALLY believe that there's a chance in hell that the undefeated winner of the last TWO national championships wouldn't overwhelmingly be voted into the title game, then, my friend, you've earned your description.

You've been drinking the swamp water about our schedule too long. No question LSU has a tougher SEC schedule, but compare Bama to Clemson if they are both undefeated, based on current standings:

Clemson: wins over Georgia, Fl State, South Carolina, championship win over Virginia Tech

Alabama: wins over A&M, LSU, Virginia Tech, championship win over Georgia/SCe/Florida

Basically Clemson would have Fl State and we'd have LSU, and I'd take the rest of our schedule over the rest of theirs.

I NEVER thought I'd see the voters give a team the rematch y'all got in 2011. Those same voters are a fickle bunch. Don't get me wrong, if y'all beat the crap out of everyone, I don't think they dick y'all/vote someone over y'all. But I could easily see a backlash if other teams have a legit claim based on everyone's schedule/on the field performance.

Personally, I think an undefeated SEC team - no matter how they win/how the schedule shook out - should always get in. Across the nation though, I'm not sure that's the case with the voters this year.

Let's kind play this thing out, with a series of "what if's". Bama's number 1. Most folks in the media seem to think they are the best team, although most folks in the media seem to think they are not "last year's" Bama. Let's say LSU beats aTm in a manner similar to Bama, but loses to Bama in a really close one. Let's say Bama beats Ga in another really close one. Let's say a Oregon or Stanford, Ohio State, and Florida State or Clemson are undefeated. Does an undefeated Bama get left out in favor of two of those that win out named above?

Are you fricking serious?
