That will keep Chad recruiting poorly and keep Coach O in his position.

What is it with Mizzou posters and their LSU obsession. 42-7 that’s all...

They loved talking about winning the EAST those first few years and hated when teams from the WEST told them the EAST sucked asss. Then when Orgeron and Ensminger set LSU Offensive records on their crappy team it sent them over the edge.

Its less fear and more logic.

Chad got the job because Arky fans hope he can finally get them back in with Texas recruits. Us A&M fans don't mind that idea, as long as that means yall are getting recruits that Okie St., Texas Tech or TCU were getting and not the recruits we battle Texas, Ohio St. and OU for. Continuing to beat Arkansas will help with keep yall locked into that lower tier.

Meanwhile any other coach LSU will get will most likely improve their program, so the longer Coach O stays there the more damage that has to be undone by the next guy.

This has been rough to watch the last couple of days.

Keep fighting the good fight, Jesus. I’m sure someone will respect Mizzou next year when y’all finally beat Purdue.

Fear can guide logic but it was mainly a joke

That was a big part, yes

If he isn't occasionally/every so often stealing recruits in that 2nd group and the fans remain happy it means he is winning a decent amount of games.

Part of what you have laid out was reasons for him not being my first/2nd or maybe even 3rd choice but I'll support him till he shows he can't get it done.

Why would they? They couldn't beat LSU with JFF, Von Miller, or Mike Evans.

Why should this year be any different?

Not saying a&m will win this year. But hiring a new coaching staff makes a huge difference.

If anyone seriously thinks that Orgeron out-coaches Jimbo, even once... then they don't know anything about football.

All in good fun.

Eh, there is a lot of good offensive talent in the former group. Four star QBs, WRs and more that Chad needs to run his offense.

What you don't get in that group is top tier lineman, but its seems the whole theory with Chad is he plans to not win in the trenches but win in the playbook.

Frankly if I was an Arky fan I would be willing to give him a shot.

I mean the program has an obvious problem getting access to talent, and there isn't some obvious path for yall to get to consistent top 15 classes and piles of SEC level linemen (aka the hardest kids to recruit) with or without Chad.

At least Chad's plan gets around the problem instead of pretending it doesn't exist like Bert did. Who knows if it will work directly, but it will leave your program in a better place with Texas high school coaches for the next guy.

Not so sure, he definitely talks about establishing the run game but you are probably right in the sense he would rather do that while out scheming teams.

I think I have just given up on every being able to pull great classes. I really just want to focus on finding the best developer. Patterson seems to fit that mold well. He gets a lot of athletes and does a good job more times than not getting all he came from them. Having said that, Bert on the surface fit that in many ways.

Lucky for us you all are so locked in to the Longhorn brand and Texas backdoor politics that your highest possible achievement is Johnny Football. You guys are pushing against LHN AND the REC. It's no wonder you threw millions upon millions on a pedigree coach from what we might as well call Bangkok, China.

I mean that is what Petrino was right? And yall had a lot of success with him despite his lazy recruiting.

I think Arky can be a top 20 recruiting type of program again one day, but it would require major shifts in the sport that aren't completely within the program's control (cliff notes: yall need to be in a conference with Texas again).

Given that if I was an Arky fan I want a guy who at the very least keeps Arky ahead of the Mississippi teams, beats Mizzou 7 out of 8 years, and beats A&M half the time. That is how I would measure success.

Yep and it is funny to see people not realize how much better Bert was on paper in terms of recruiting.

Maybe that would help but I still think it is just going to take a snowball effect of consistent 8-10 wins a season to truly take advantage of recruiting and even then I think right around top 15 is ceiling. Getting to that point of consistency would be very difficult obviously.

I'm probably more realistic than most and something like that could keep me somewhat happy for a long time. I'm human though and eventually I would expect improvement beyond that.

Personally I think winning is overrated in recruiting. Otherwise TCU would recruit better, or Oregon would have recruited better prior to this year.

I think what matters more in recruiting is the story you tell, and if Arky made a move like that they would get help telling their story to Texas recruits (from a UT that would want to play up your defection for their own ego).

Hey I feel you there, we would have killed for Sumlin level success in the Fran era.
