The only thing I have against the iron bowl is how everyone is trying to make it seem like it has always been this huge nationally relevant game when that wasn't the case until 2010

Haven't read yet past this post. I hope the remainder of this thread is less ignorant that this one.

To the garner that posted above, I couldn't agree more!

Its the biggest rivalry in all of sports and I really don't think there is a close second. Until you live in the state for a period of time I don't think you can appreciate the hatred between schools.

The Red River Rivalry isn't forced. The reason there isn't much "hatred" between Texas and Oklahoma is because they are both historically 2 of some of the best programs in the country. It's a rivalry built on historical relevance and respect, because the winner of that game is usually in the National Championship race. It's not based on disdain or hatred.
It's probably hard to understand this concept as an Aggie, because you're entire existence has been defined by being somebody else little brother(formerly Texas, now LSU). So you see "Rivalry" as something that's only an extension of resentment.

I would compare Texas/OU to USC/Notre Dame.

But yes, Tenneesee Alabama does feel forced.

You didn't realize it because you're a moron, not because it wasn't nationally relevant. Go back and look at the 1971 season, for example. It was a de facto national semifinal playoff game. Do a little research in the future instead and you won't come across like a clueless frick.

We played Vandy every year from 1953 until 2002...and that's 10 years AFTER expansion, for all of you children who just started watching SEC football about 5 years ago. If we wanted to pad our schedule, we would have kept Vandy.

Wow, you're ignorant of Alabama's rivalry with Vandy.

Interesting. Turnips, indeed.

What the frick are you even talking about?

You get it now?

Leave it to an Ag to resort to such a lame attempt at saving face. Here's a clue: It didn't work.

I lived in St. Louis and EVERYONE knew Bama/Auburn.

I also remember going to Ozzies Restaruant to watch the Bama/Tennessee game and being surrounded by at least 100-150 rival fans from both sides - it was huge.

What does that have anything to do with the fact that the iron bowl was not nationally relevant until 2010? Cause it wasn't

What you fail to realize is we don't care what you think Richard. The game was never played to gain your approval. So there's that...

Quit embarrassing yourself trying to comment on the Iron Bowl or the TSIO. You are a Big 12 refugee and just got reminded of that to the whole nation.
