Not until late February or early March.

it has nothing to do with race. it IS a lower class game. Why do you think it is the predominant game in the US ghettos, much like soccer in the rest of the world is the predominant game in the ghettos. It only takes a ball and a hoop (or goal in soccer). You don't need expensive equipment to play the game.

James has somehow managed to raise his field goal percentage for the seventh straight season, to 59.1 percent. His true shooting percentage -- an advanced shooting percentage that incorporates 3-point shots and free throws -- stands at 67.2 percent. How high is that? As pointed out in a BIG Number episode last month, we've never seen a true shooting percentage north of 67 percent when taking at least 15 field goal attempts per game.
He is shooting 40% from 3. That is extremely good.

Football is played by just as many low class individuals. The difference is there are a ton of good small private schools that provide these basketball players with scholarships that can't support a football team.

Why? You never came out and said it?

Other than Moses Malone, I think we got to see most of those guys compete multiple years in the NCAA tournament and got to know them before they were cocky arrogant millionaires.
Such a stupid line of thinking.
First, they're not all cocky nor arrogant, and there were plenty who were in your halcyon days.
Second, just because they play for money doesn't mean they love the game any less.

Yet, football is the cheapest sport to play (for the player). In baseball, basketball, and soccer, you need to shell out money for travel teams if you hope to play beyond HS. Not the case in football. I love football but its absolutely a lower class game in most of the US.

probably because the cost is minimal once you reach the middle school level. I agree the NFL is trending higher in thuggish behavior (life SF/Car the other day)
long story short. I used to watch college basketball almost religiously. I used to watch NBA basketball on a regular basis. Now, I have no desire to watch either outside of a few end of the year postseason games. I will attend a game here or there but will

I'd start watching again. Watch the Spurs play tonight or Golden State play the Nuggets.

so how much did durant or lebron or any current top notch college player shell out to play basketball as an amateur? I think shoe companies and aau have that covered for them don't you? Football takes a locker room full of equipment, helmets, pads, and so on to play. In soccer you need a ball and shinguards. In basketball you need a ball and a hoop.
golf/tennis, etc are high class games because you need a lot of $$ to even start to play and usually a country club membership to excel.

Leave AL for once and you'll quickly see that football is mostly played by lower class individuals. Basketball is too but its also seen as more socially acceptable for middle and upper middle class individuals. I'm not saying its right but its the truth.

If you are a fan of the game, there are several NBA teams that play the game in a beautiful way. To wit:
San Antonio
Memphis
Indiana
Atlanta

If you missed the two games yesterday on Espn, then I feel sorry for you. That is what college basketball is all about! Also what is this college baseball a few LSU fans keep mentioning?

I used to be a huge college basketball fan. I just can't watch the slowed down boring play of college basketball. I watch NBA almost exclusively now.
