I'm assuming this is directed at his comment?

It's really not. I will give you that it's big in the LA, MS, AR and SC, but other than that, college baseball is no more popular than women's college basketball. It's just not. I like college baseball but some things touted around here about baseball are simply untrue for most of the South.

Yea. And lots of others in this thread.
Posted on 1/15/14 at 3:58 pm to thesoccerfanjax
I would say it's not big in the north/north east, but baseball out west is a big deal to a lot of people.
Posted on 1/15/14 at 4:00 pm to cas4t
There are some good programs out there, but it's hardly a "big deal" in the sense we're talking about here.
Posted on 1/15/14 at 4:01 pm to thesoccerfanjax
It's clearly bigger in the south, but people out west care about it.
Posted on 1/15/14 at 4:03 pm to cas4t
Of course people care about it. People in a lot of places care about a lot of things. And for the record, I wouldn't say it's any bigger in the South than it is out West. It's pretty low in the pecking order in both regions.

dude, the CBB players these days are the best they've ever been. The amount of talent is ridiculous

This thread is full of people like you coming in and saying stuff like this with nothing to back it up. Because you probably don't actually know what you're talking about.

are we talking 'CBB' as in basketball..or baseball?
If we're talking basketball, then you need to pass whatever it is you're smoking.
AAU basketball alone has grown so much over about the last 20 years that it has become a business. A business that produces some of the best basketball players we;ve seen. It's crooked as shite, but it's breeded great basketball players. And they get better every single year.

Exactly. He likely has no ability to watch a kid play and break down what his strengths and weaknesses are. Or what type of offense they're running and how complicated it is.
I'm far from an expert, but I at least played in college and watch it avidly.

Not surprised a lot of SEC folk don't like basketball, but I am a little surprised about people disliking the NCAA Tournament. It's the greatest event in college sports.

I use to love College Basketball. But it has been a piss poor product for almost a decade now. Officiating and the one and done have killed the game at the college level. There needs to be some serious rule changes.

The BCS somehow put this idea into people's heads that every "champion" should also be the undisputed "best". I guess a lot of football-only guys now see this as the only legitimate way to crown a champion. I don't get it. The NCAA Tourney never set out to crown the "best", so it's irrelevant.

Oh, we got another one. How many one and dones do you think there are in a given season? Do you think that's really enough to effect the overall product? You also seem to imply that you think it's an NCAA rule.

How do one and dones ruin basketball?
You wouldn't have liked to see Lebron in college? Or Kobe? Or Dwight Howard?
I've never understood this argument. If the kids are good enough to go pro, then they should be able to. It's not a sport where physicality matters as much like football.
KD couldn't even bench 135 when he was drafted

I strongly disagree that AAU has improved college basketball. I think it is a cancer to the game. It has produced better 1 on 1 scorers but that isn't basketball imo.

College basketball, no. Pro ball, yes. It's what got me interested in sports.
