FIFY

(Unless of course the defense gets embarrassed or the QB's decide to turnover the ball 3/4 times.)

A down/young/rebuilding UF team is > than A&M this year. While I believe it will be a competitive game, I still think the Gators win.

If you think you have no issues at QB then more power to you. That just hasn't been the consensus opinion.

Another poster mentioned how you played LSU last year in Tiger Stadium.

Gainesville is hot in the Summer but not as hot as BCS. It isn't uncommon for Sept games during the day to be over 100 degrees with high humidity (yes, I know you understand about humidity). Also, the setup of Kyle puts the opponents in the sun with A&M in the shade. Will it make a big difference? Probably not, but it also might.

From whom? Who saw them perform enough to say whether or not they were good or bad in camp?
I'm not saying they are good or bad. I have not seen them in practice this camp so I couldn't give you an opinion. It seems that others can without seeing them.

They have to do it on the field. However, anyone that says they are good or bad based on the TWO open practices we had are using an awfully small sample size.

Hot and humid is fine. We aren't Colorado. I witnessed them against FSU several years back and those guys were wilted and looked like they didn't want to be there.

What he said:

(haha no way, we have a top 5 defense nationally, and a well improved offense, i don't care who wins the QB battle they will be much better than brantley, our running game will be fine with gilly and mack/jones, reed is a mismatch waiting to happen and I think Pease is going to create a lot of mismatches and misdirection, were gonna be able to move the ball this year just watch)

Long-range forecasts suggest that a cold front is going to come in Friday. Might be a high of upper 80s or low 90s. Very nice afternoon, if that plays out.

My eval of the UF QB's is based on UF articles I have read. Maybe everyone is wrong.

A&M is going to score points. They simply have too good of an OL and too many playmakers not to. The fact they will play in a hurry up that is likely faster than anything UF has seen is also a factor. The design of the offense is to spread the field, line up fast, and make quick plays forcing the defense to have to constantly "guess right". Eventually someone gets caught out of position or misses a tackle and it's 6 points. UF has the athletes on D to keep up but still even the best athletes can make a mistake when they have to constantly make decisions at double their normal speed.

This game is going to turn on one of 3 things.

UF wears down A&M's D and keeps the Aggie offense off the field while the defense gets tired. Or not.

UF's D is able to bust through A&M's OL and put a ton of pressure on the RS Fish QB at A&M and force him into making a lot of errors. Or not.

Special teams and turnovers.

I don't see UF scoring a lot of points relying solely on the offense. I can see the defense getting some turnovers and allowing UF to have a short field.

2 very average teams playing. Hard to call. I will take florida with that legit top 10 defense.

I find it even less likely given TAMU's opener has been postponed. UF will have a tune-up game to work the kinks out and find their playmakers. TAMU will not. Thoughts?

That is the giant X factor, will A&M be ready to go in Game 1 with all the new schemes? They looked very good in the scrimmages but that's not the same as playing big boy SEC Football by a long shot.

It will be interesting to see the Big OL of A&M against the big Front 7 at UF and the playmakers on A&M's skill positions against the fast and strong DB's of Florida.

You rational Aggies confuse the shite out of me.

I have no idea what to expect from our offense. I have hope has more to work with than he did at Boise.

I think our D will be solid though so I'm not too worried about that part.

Here is what Massey Ratings is predicting:

These guys have been freakishly right, but their predictions get better after the first 4 games. I am not buying this one. This game is full of question marks on both sides.

Until I have something better to go on, I still say Florida by two scores. Probably something like this:

UF 35
A&M 26

(so no, they don't have to score 40 to win, just 27)

Watching last nights game really gave me a boost in confidence. USCe and Vandy have prepared for eachother all off season with practices and scrimmages and both still looked very rusty out of the gate. I know it was rainy and that caused some issues, but still it shows how hard it is to be truly ready game #1.

Now that we get a tune up game and TAM running a new offense, defense, first time QB and new coaches don't, I think that is going to end up being a huge advantage for us.

Of course we could look like complete arse tomorrow and I will feel completely different yet again. So there you have it.

I would be giddy if we were able to score 35.
