No. The expanded SEC is at least still geographically coherent.

I didn't like the idea of leaving the Big 12, but the writing was clearly on the wall back when all this stuff went down. Colorado left, Nebraska left, OU was talking about not being wallflowers, and there was a ton of noise with the Texas schools and the Pac. I'm glad our admin had the stones to make the correct long-term decision to make sure we didn't get left in the dust when they did. I will happily take all the "kick those yankees out" calls if it means Mizzou has a secure home in one of the winners of realignment.

You’d be surprised. The SoCon had 20 members and it eventually split into the SEC and ACC because it was too big

Mega conferences tend to have programs with different ideas and cultures and eventually there will be disagreements and they will fail

I miss the regionalism. Hell, I remember thinking Baton Rouge was on the other side of the world. Now, USC is in the same conference as a school in New Jersey.

Honestly, the SEC fricked the whole thing up to start with when they voted to admit Arkie and South Car. I know it looked great for a number of years and Kramer was considered a genius but when a man gets a million, he wants two mill, then 10. It doesn't stop until everything is ruined. When it comes to men in power they don't give a damn about who they have to frick to get it...including most of us.

Now that we have Texas. aTm serves no purpose. Hoping the Big12 asks them back.

If ESPN owns the contract for both SEC and ACC, then they should should negotiate a merger of these two conferences and kick out the scrubs.

BCS era was the peak of college football.

When they did 4 team playoffs it was a screw up. I think it should have kept the BCS football conferences including the Big East and done a 12 team playoff with all conference champs making playoff and some at large bids that were based on BCS rankings

I know about the old Southern Conference and I hope you're right.

Notre Dame is the only program out there that would 100% add value to the conference.

The original SoCon was more like a mini NCAA than a conference. Various newspapers voted on "champions" in football. Not sure how the other sports worked.

Clemson would currently (10th in viewership). I wonder if they would even be top 25 though once the good times are over.
FSU is 15th and still top 25 even when they suck. But I'm enjoying their temper tantrum especially since it's 100% their fault.

We're not even done with the latest expansion and we're already talking about another one.

I hate the white collar chucklefricks that ruined this sport for money.

You're focusing solely on football.

As a whole Clemson is dogshit compared to Notre Dame.

They don't move the needle at all.

I understand if the SEC doesn't expand though. We're gonna have 7 of the top 10 richest athletic programs in the country less than a year from now. And ESPN already owns Clemson and FSU for cheap (and UNC/UVA for that matter) until 2036.

Oklahoma and Texas have superior athletic programs to Clemson and it's not close.

They also open up television markets that Clemson wouldn't.

OU just played for a baseball natty with occasional spurts in basketball and Texas is one of the more well-rounded athletic departments in the country. This was far from a football only acquisition.
