you don't get both penalties, hoss
Actually, since the second one was a dead ball, late hit, you do.
In the 2003 National Championship game against OK, LSU had a made field goal where an LSU player was called for holding and a late hit. Cost LSU 25 yards, moving them from the Sooner 10 to the Sooner 35. No longer in field goal range, we tried a fake punt that almost scored.

It's rare, but in a dead ball situation, it does happen.
Even so, if they don't get the PF, it's still 1st & 15 from the 30, which is very different from 1st & 10 from the 16.

After the personal foul, you could have gotten a first down without scoring, thus forcing Bama to exhaust their timeouts and putting LSU in position to score with no time on the clcok.
Nope. Since the personal foul was after the first down play, the down and line to gain does not reset. The next play was 2d & Goal from the 21. Once we ran the first play, we could not run the clock out without Bama getting called for an automatic first down penalty.
Lots of LSU fans have wondered why Bama didn't have 1st and goal from the 16 in overtime, but regarding down and distance, they were both applied correctly.

You are dumb or you didn't watch the game and are just commenting to comment. LSU was setting up for the field goal once they were already pushed back. The RB's were not gonna fight for tons of yards risking a fumble. And the -2 yard play was the QB sneaking to setup the correct hash. I think we would have scored a TD, about 90% sure. LF was averaging 3.8 yards per carry in the game. But we will never know cause the REC made a phone call to ensure that LSU was only going to kick a field goal and not have a chance to score a touchdown.

Because it didn't happen? What if Ole Misd doesn't get that TD called back in DV?

No dude it was 2nd and goal from the 21 yard line, not 2nd and 10. The original line of scrimmage was established at the 6 yard line so the ability to get another 1st down wasn't possible.

The score would have been the same. Ole Miss scored their TD on that same drive.

No they didn't
Then you must be thinking of another one that I don't remember and can't find in the play-by-play. The TD called back was the 43 yard pass to Jaylen Walton.
Ole Miss @ LSU
1st and 10 at MISS 20 Jaylen Walton run for no gain to the Miss 20 0 0
2nd and 10 at MISS 20 Bo Wallace pass complete to Jaylen Walton for 43 yds to the LSU 37 for a 1ST down
1st and 10 at LSU 37 Bo Wallace pass complete to Laquon Treadwell for 27 yds to the LSU 10 for a 1ST down
1st and Goal at LSU 10 Bo Wallace pass incomplete
2nd and Goal at LSU 10 Jordan Wilkins pass incomplete to Bo Wallace
3rd and Goal at LSU 10 OLE MISS Penalty, False Start (Fahn Cooper) to the LSU 15
3rd and Goal at LSU 15 Cody Core 15 Yd pass from Bo Wallace (Gary Wunderlich Kick) 7 0
