So, 7SU and Auburn fans ask yourselves if you won the NC but didn't win the SEC, would you give the NC trophy back?

To be clear neither LSU, Auburn, uga, Miami, etc...would have gotten the chance you got. Only a monkey thought bama wasn't capable of winning the 4 team playoff. Under the current rules that makes you champ. The problem is the system still has flaws.

Every Auburn fan would tell you no, but the rest of the world says congratulations on your Championship. Hell, Auburn wont even concede that Georgia won the SEC championship because they had a player that had a headache that day. Guess this is why Gus wants an 8 team playoff so they can backdoor their way in. Alabama earned everything they got.

I don’t think Saban is giving the trophy back.

So then what do you propose, Tigerman?

It's one thing to only bitch and moan but another to offer solutions to the "problem".

Yes, you do.

But it doesnt feel a fulfilling to the players, coaches, or fans (people will deny this, I dont know why though)

But it absolutely still counts

Now that college football is in the playoffs era it's going to happen sometimes. It's not unheard of in the NFL for a wildcard team to win a Super Bowl.

I don't believe there is a perfect solution. I understand its about money. I don't love the idea of an 8 team playoff because they are all college kids. Look at Auburn after uga, bama, uga this year...or even bama after playing a stout Clemson D then uga. bama is the only team who could have withstood the loses ya'll dealt with in the playoffs from injuries that guys sustained and those injuries guys started the uga game with "dinged" but couldn't finish because of Clemson.

The 8 team playoff at least rewards the 5 Conference champs which adds back to the regular season. There was a time right or wrong that the regular season was fun because the loss in the Iron Bowl would have eliminated bama and the November loss likely would have eliminated uga pre BCS. The 8 team format would still leave room for Notre Dame, Ohio State, bama and USC to get in if they are good enough and would leave hope for the occasional UCF or Houston, etc...IMO it would need to be played over a larger span of time than 3 weeks though for injury related reasons. Obviously you'd have to give back a game in the regular season.

I'm not moaning, just discussing. I have stated numerous times I have no issue with bama getting in under the current rules. Just think the rules should be changed.

Another option is require a championships. If that had been the case this season nobody would have cared. It would have been Clemson, Okie, uga and OSU. Things would have gone similar. We still would have been treated to a great patty cake fight in the Rose Bowl. With Clemson handling OSU in the Sugar. Then you'd had a close game between evenly matched teams in the title game. I don't have a problem just staying with 4 and requiring a championship but I don't know how you deal with Notre Dame and the Group of 5 that way.

I suppose winning a NC is a good consolation prize for not being able win your division or conference.

Yeah, I don't think there's a Red Sox fan alive that gives a shite that the Yankees won the AL East in 2004.

Can you really win your conference if you don't win your division in pro sports? Yes. Yes you can.

We have rendered the Auburn game "irrelevant".

The NC trophy was awarded in accordance with the established protocol. Therefore, Alabama is once again the NC.
