The last time LSU was ranked #1, Brent Musberger threw a parade on air when they finally crossed the 50 yard line.

Both of our ststements are factual. This is not an either-or situation.
But if you're asking which program is historically better then I would have to go with LSU. Three national championships to Georgia's one. Georgia holds the lead over LSU in terms of SEC championships, 12 to 11. But obviously national titles carry more weight. I'd have to say LSU is the better program historically.
ETA: UGA also has more wins over all than does LSU.

Georgia probably gets a lot of love because they do have a good history in football.
They have had one of the greatest college running backs in history play for them. They've had some good quality wins. And they've been competitive overall.
There are solid program obviously. But being that they have not won a national title in so long does take away from the luster of that program. To me it's crazy it's been so long since Georgia has won a national title. They have great facilities and are able to recruit very well and they have a good history. It's weird they only have one natty.
