I think Calipari is basically everything wrong with college basketball and a poor in game coach, but who would you take nationally over him that would come?
Mark Few
Jay Wright
Tom Izzo
After that you’ve got a lot of question marks.

Thing is an average coach can take uk to the first round and lose. We are an elite program (or are supposed to be anyway) so I think most could match cals success as of late. That includes the mummy that is Rick pitino

Imagine if Kirby went 7-5 next year, then went to the playoffs the next year two years but lost in the first round including as the undefeated #1 seed.
Then for the next 7 years never made the playoffs again, only played in a couple NY6 bowls, and even had 4-8 season. Would you want to keep him around if he lost to a FCS team after going 4-8? Even if you want 10-2?

Please - just in the conference, Barnes and Pearl are demonstrably better. Musselman will be in another couple years. With equal talent, Buzz Williams is better.

Does he really have a 60M buyout? He isn't going anywhere ...

Yes, yes I do. I didn't start a thread on here titled "Get the frick out of Lexington Calipari" capriciously. It. Is. Time. Get the frick out.

Doesn't look like I posted in this thread yet. Here goes.
Cal isn't leaving. Who would UK get to replace him that's better? The only active college coach I would even want to consider is Jay Wright, and he isn't leaving Villanova.
The only other coach I would be excited about is Brad Stevens, and he's been out of college and now coaching for a while. There really are no other options.
With that said, my gripe about Cal is not that the talent isn't there, it's that he remains blindly loyal to players and will rarely make adjustments to try to change the tone of the game.
Example: Toppin played well in the first half, played 2 minutes in the 2nd half. No Collins, no Hopkins even though everyone was struggling except Tschiebwe. Why not put them in for a few minutes in the first half and see if it provides a spark. Heck, even put in Dontae Allen and see if he can do the same.
Wheeler and TyTy were both struggling, but yet, there they were. If Wheeler doesn't stumble, he likely has a layup to win the game.
We get up by 6 with 3 minutes left, he tries to slow the game down. Did that exact same thing against Wisconsin in 2015 and we lost that game too.
