IIRC the actual textbooks were returned, then there were some books that weren't meant to be returned. The textbooks WERE given back. That's how the system was. The issue was that they were given to the players for a class they weren't taking. The books had to be returned after the class was over

I will say that during Pinebox's days in Auburn that is probably as clean a AU team is there was. His distaste for Lowder, et al was legendary. That being said, I would have no issues with giving it to Auburn.

And also, I really don't care if the books were returned or not. It was still a stupid arse penalty for something really fricking stupid. I don't care if it was Bama, aub, tenn, lsu, michigan, notre da--wait nevermind...I wouldn't care if they did it to notre damn

I would probably agree, but that doesn't mean they were spotless during Pinebox's days.

Not at all. Bama - nor any other program - has ever been spotless. I just dont like that Tubs incorrectly has this image of being "above" the gray area of the rules.

Forget about Tubs, he is long gone. I lost my respect for Tubby during the 2007 LSU game.

I find it humerus that Auburn fans say this. Tubby gave us our longest streak against Bama in the Iron Bowl.
I personally liked Tubby (granted, I was always waiting for him to take flight during a game due to his huge ears).

There is one rule I think Tubs broke... I think it's the one that says you and your coaching staff shouldn't be out frickin' duck hunting in Arkansas while Nick Saban is kicking arse on the recruiting trail all over the state..

I like Tubs. He did great for AU. But I dont know if you were there for the 2007 LSU game, I was. He would not kick to Holidae if his life depended on it and gave LSU great field position every time. Played it way too safe and ever since that game, I believe it was the end of the Tub Ears sorry era.

I hate auburn more than any other team!! with that said Yes b/c they were suppose to be there anyway and got a shitty deal...

BCS? No. That is given for winning the BCS NC game. We did not play in that game
AP or any other poll? Sure since those don't require a specific game to be won.
After everything is said and done, I don't care if they would give it to us or not, that wouldn't bring me the satisfaction that I felt this last year watching us win it all. Those players deserve the credit of being one of the best teams in the nation, but I will get no personal satisfaction of having that in the history books. The reason I am a fan is getting to actually watch the game and enjoy the feeling of victory. Not bragging rights about the # of NC's we have.

I think this can only be settled by gathering up all the players from AU and OU's 2004 team and making them play the game they should have back then! Screwed up knees and all.

83' was good year for Bama Championships, I am still waiting for the year Auburn can win 6 in one year. That way we can top big bro
