Do Navy football players have to make weight?

There’s no way some of those D lineman can get to regulation weight within 8months of this game. Is there just a waiver? If so, Army should do the same. The Army OL is giving up 75lbs per player to Navy.

Pogues. The entire lot of them.

Army refuses to budge on that. It’s dumb.

Disagree. One is a matter of life and death and the other is a game. Navy's guys should have to make weight as well. Pussies.

All the branches have a weight waiver. There is a tape test and if your neck is big you can be morbidly obese and pass

Yeah as long as you are playing weight shouldn’t apply.

regulation weight
Is this a thing? As long as they can pass their PT test, it shouldn't be a problem.

They aren't required while playing. Afterwards they must slim down.

Utilizing BMI for athletes is stupid, not a matter of life and death

Navy is the fattest branch for a reason. no way they pass tape

Weight control is stupid. As long as the soldier can pass the APFT, it shouldn't matter. I have known soldiers that could pass the APFT, ruck etc etc but couldn't stay within the regulation even though he tried the weight control program but he just couldn't keep it off. He got discharged for being overweight.

Each Branch has different requirement and different ways of determining body mass. They do have waivers while in school, but after graduation, they have to meet their Services requirements.

You can not meet the requirements of the regulation if the Commander determines you do not meet the uniform requirements, even if you pass a tape test.

I will give you a dollar if you let me watch you call one of them a pussy.

A dollar? Are you kidding me? That wouldn't even nearly cover the bail I'd have to pay for beating some dudes arse.

frick that. Let's see them finish a 25 mile ruck march.
If they can finish that being overweight then I'm cool with it. Otherwise you aren't up to snuff.
ETA: Conditions are full battle rattle, rifle, and a 60 pound pack weight.

I watched a special once that had the Navy seniors taking about how they have to go on crazy diets after football or atleast the ones going into the Marines. I think they have until April to make a certain weight and pass their field physical tests

A 25 mile ruck march is not an Army regulation. A 12 mile ruck march is an Army regulation and I have seen overweight soldiers do that

They can get some kind of waiver I think, David Robinson did for his height

It should be.
And either way, I agree with Army's stance on it.
