Did you go to West Point or the USNA? I went to the USNA and they are not pussies and meet the standards set for them. To keep up with the academics, training and play football is quite difficult.
They would, to a man, whip you arse up and down the wall and then respectfully help gather the pile of what is left of you and gently place it in a cab back to your mom's basement.
I get it, you are salty because the team from a school you didn't, and couldn't, attend didn't beat another team from a school you didn't, and couldn't, attend.

somehow I think it's ok to be heavier in the navy. just put them on a bigger ship.

This is becoming a concern of mine. Not just the weight, but the overall notion that the military rules don't apply to these guys. I'm not a fan of the new rule that allows them to skip out of their service obligation if the NFL comes calling. The whole reason they're supposed to be there is to train to be military officers. Football is a sideshow. If you're sacrificing that obligation to the football gods, then you're sacrificing the integrity of the academies.
That has ALWAYS been an option, just with a cost associated with it. You can always pay your way out of your obligation. It is a steep cost, something like $200k+ when I went there, but if you land a decent NFL contract, it is almost nothing. Max Lane, NE Patriots, was in my company and just left and paid off his commitment.

It was stupid to a fault. I was discussing that with my CO when a Captain from supply butted in saying all Marines shouldn’t have an issue meeting the weight requirements. Of course this Captain was one of those bean poles that looked like he couldn’t lift a full backpack, and in my opinion was more of a risk factor than someone a little over weight.
To shut him up I just asked my CO who he would rather have in his fox hole if the shite was about to hit the fan, of course he picked me and then walked of laughing. Ah the good old days haha.

They can also leave after their second year without any obligation. Most are there for the education and the service to country and not for a self serving reason.
