The UGA fans I know(work with a few) all say they would have been fine with Mettenberger beating out Murray had that happened. His offthefield problems revised history somewhat according to them. They say he was neck and neck with Murray. Also, JUCO All-Americans have done fairly well in recent SEC history. I've seen Mettenberger play and his pocket presence and mechanics are SEC caliber. His arm is already NFL caliber. Like some other posters said, if JJ beats Zach out then it means he's playing at a consistantly high level. Personally, I think we'll see some sort of early-season rotation at the very least.

Might be a tad easier if we had a Tebow or Stafford lining up behind center. Just the same, JJ played pretty well in his final four games against decent opponents (Bama, Ole Miss, Arky and A&M). IF he can sustain that level of play, we can compete for the SEC West, SEC Championship, etc. Also, IF our o-line is as good as we're hoping, that's gonna make a huge difference in our offensive output in 2011. At this point, I'd say there's a 50-50 chance JJ can build on what he did at the end of 2010. Wish I could say the percentages were higher, but it really is a ?? at this moment.

Because this whole thing has nothing to do with can. Of course they "can". LSU could run the table. Now with Kragthorpe, I would go from saying "can" to "quite possible".

There's so many different areas that any team can improve on that could get them there.
Ark. With just the slightest improvements on defense and they could have been undefeated. At the same time, WRs catch the ball better and they could have.
My point is he has enough talent so long as everything else is in order..

yeah, I do
Matt Flynn in 2007 turned the ball over a ton, but LSU was still able to win the title that year
Jefferson is going to step up hopefully in 2011. As the season drew on, he played alot looser and with much more confidence. First half of last season, he was much more hesitant about taking off and running. Then, in the latter half of the season, his tucking it in and running added a big dimension to the offense.

Check out his stats for the four games I referenced (total):
49-of-76 passing/737 yards/5 TD; 2 INT
42 carries/173 yards/2 TD
He had a miserable game against Monroe; that's one reason I pegged his chances of significant, lasting improvement at 50-50. Anyway, prorate these stats and you have (12-game season):
147-of-228 passing/2211 yards/15 TD; 6 INT
126 carries/519 yards/6 TD
Given the quality of our other players on offense, and I'd take my chances with those numbers. 50-50 at this point IMO.

I don't think he can. LSU to me is ranked a little to high should come in around 5-7, this is still a very young team. And the "bitch arse" Bama Fan is still butt hurt over this season it would seem.
