Though picking up a decent defensive coordinator was a wise move, will the offense adjust to make them functional for four quarters.
The defense will always suffer with the type of offense Sumlin runs.

I sure hope you have a stacked NFL-ready defensive roster, because that is what Chavis relies on to get those stats you posted.

The nickname of "3rd and Chavis" did not start at LSU. You need to dig deeper in your research to feel better about you new D coordinator.

We should call it the Theory of 3rd and Chavis. Not quite enough to be anointed in to law. But is def real enough to be a theory!

I see a lot of missed tackles. You want Chavis to coach the quarterbacks and also make the tackles?

U mad bro? I guess 0-3 against LSU since you entered the league will do that? What do you think?

LSU's 2014 Defense Statistics:
Total Defense: 9th
Passing Yards Allowed: 3rd
Scoring Defense: 5th
3rd Down Defense: 30th
LSU's 2014 Offense:
Total Offense: 77th
Passing Offense: 114th
Scoring Offense: 73rd
3rd Down Conversions: 69th
Rushing Offense: 23rd (way to be 1 dimensional)
3rd and motherfricking CHAVIS!!!!
Reading tRant, you would think LSU's 3rd down defense would be in the mid-80s MINIMUM!

Tennessee fans were warning us about 3rd and Chavis when he got hired at LSU. We didn't believe them and just thought they were being critical about losing Chavis.
We quickly learned that it wasn't a myth and that when you need a critical stop late in the game, Chavis's defenses will blow it. I'm still pretty chapped about that 4th & 16 we gave up to Clemson back in our 2012 bowl game.

My aggie brethren have trouble grasping this concept.

1) Chavis was a great hire. He is legitimately very good.
2) On 3rd and long, and at the end of halves you'll be in trouble. Look up '00 UT/UF, '01 UT/UF (saved by Buck Fitzgerald), '01 UT/UGA, '08 UT/UCLA and many, many more.
He loves the Mustang (dime) package, and rushing three under two minutes.

This is correct. John Chavis is the most overrated DC in the country
I don't think he's the most overrated, but I remember UT warning us in January of 09 how 3rd and Chavis would drive us insane.(I lurked) They weren't kidding.
3rd and Chavis is very real, and no matter what level of talent you have, you should expect to see it. We had #1 defenses and still saw his bullshite prevent defense on 3rd down.
