So I just read that McClover's high school coaches are saying he didn't get paid and now McClover is starting to deny it and HBO might not run his story now.

No the NCAA rule on statute of limitations reads similarly to how legal statute of limitations laws read. If something is obscured the statute of limitations does not begin to toll until the obscured knowledge becoems public.
The reason is that schools self-report themselves. A school could elect not to report certain items and then the statute of limitations expires. That's why the NCAA like the law has a "soft cap" on the SoL. They (the NCAA) may find something that has concealed while investigating something else.
So in essence the SoL could be waived for as long as a period as so desired. In Auburn's case since many of the principals that were invovled with the Eric Ramsay case are still associated with Auburn the NCAA could hit Auburn with violations from the nineites if it can be demonstrated that there was a pattern and the events were not isolated from current ongoing allegations.

It's painfully obvious cheating is going on at Oregon, Ohio St, Michigan, etc. outside the SEC .. hell basically any top 20 school to some extent. I bet you could get a ton of dirt on Troy if you wanted to dig...
The problem with Auburn is they seem to have ramped up the standards.
Under $30,000 the NCAA, SEC etc. Look the other way over 6 figures... better watch out. From the amount of allegations and stories of former players I'm inclined to believe this is the current enforcement policy.
^^ This X 1,000
Auburn ramped their shite up to a level that can not be ignored. And by using street agents like Sean Nelson & Walt Williams to steer recruits to AU it just heats up the spot light on their recruiting practices.

My only question is how the hell is McClover "wavering" on his claims? Either you received money or you didn't.
Says to me that he was either looking for a pay day from HBO or he's being pressured not to tell his story.
I like that so many people associated with his high school are saying we didn't pay him a dime.

SBB starts something everyday.

Yeah, he's just trying to break something, so he'll report anything he hears and hopes he can get his name out there. He's making himself look like a fool, in my honest opinion.
Did he really say on Finebaum that HBO is shocked that names have gotten out so they are cancelling the show? What a tool.

Keyword in bold. Just kidding (sorta). Regardless of what any player claims, it still has to be proven. It's all a matter of how believable the accusers are and if their allegations can be proven.

I don't know about this situation from the inside but my guess would be that it isn't him but HBO. Basically you have someone HBO is paying to give an interview saying one thing and everyone else around him not supporting his story. You could run the story but at the same time it looks bad from the standpoint of he could be lying to get cash. Most real news organizations would be shakey if they can't backup the statement of a source. Evans and others would be fine as all they want is one person to go on record they could care less if it is true they'll publish it.

I've seen some people in a certain thread speculate that Auburn paid off his high school coaches.
At some point people need to apply Occam's Razor and realize that the idea that we paid everyone off in a completely foolproof manner is pretty insane, and that the far more likely scenario is that Auburn has been running a relatively clean program.

That's not unreasonable and I agree to an extent. The problem or concern I would have as an Auburn fan is the sheer number of allegations and the fact that Alabama people are just one of a few fanbases worked up into a bit of a frenzy over all this. The similarities to the Logan Young/Means case are eye opening. The biggest difference is that Auburn seems to have been much more clever and cloak and dagger in getting things done behind the scene whereas Bama's case centered on a loudmouth braggart who long had a bad rep with regards to recruiting. Auburn's situation seems to be much more wide ranging and difficult to pin down. The similarities are that a lot of fanbases are aiming at Auburn like with Bama in the Means case and that the FBI is involved. The dollar amounts are amazingly similar as well. I think proving Auburn's case will be much harder for the NCAA vs. Bama's because Bama's FBI booster case was actually about "buying a player" whereas Auburn's booster cases deal with peripheral issues that may or may not involve P4P.
Of course, 100% of the smoke surrounding Auburn could be completely made up BS and Auburn could be the most unfairly persecuted program in the history of collegiate sports. There's an awful lot of smoke, but I guess it's possible there's nothing to it. It just isn't that likely all 100% of it is BS though.

comparing all this to the Means case is a joke

Either Michigan isn't paying players or they spent last years entire budget on Robinson. Look at their defense. If they paid for that they need to get their money back.
Ohio State for sure pays players. Some RB from a few years ago will tell you that from a jail cell. Their a football factory not a school, and apparently their basketball team learned a few lessons from the football program recently.
Yes this is my first post and being a Michigan State fan I fully expect to get crucified for the Big 10's performance vs the SEC this year. We would have stood a chance if the SEC had a salary cap...

How is the comparison "a joke". Both were accused of being bid on by multiple schools. The dollar amounts are very similar. With LY and Means, there was very strong circumstancial evidence of LY providing four figure amounts of cash to a high school coach and a player's family. IF proof of payments are found connecting Auburn and CN, then it will be almost identical to the Means case.
