If only had someone mentioned that on Mon and Tues and Wed...

Then as anLSU fan you should have known that with a hurricane coming they were just baiting you or something. If I was told a major hurricane was coming and people said don't worry. I'd be like whatever.

Moving the game to 11/19 would cost LSU 1.5 million to buyout S Alabama. The Presby buyout is 500K. Pay the 1.5 to S Alabama and we will be there. Your stupidity shouldn't cost us 1.5 million.

lies?

Maybe you should have read all of that article:
quote:

Matt Baker ? @MBakerTBTimes
Foley says potential Nov. 19 date would be discussed by league. Whatever SEC decides, Foley says UF is behind it
3:43 PM - 6 Oct 2016

quote:

more lies?

Article based on the same tweet with no further identification of the source:
quote:

LSU wasn’t having it, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurhpy, who cited a source.

quote:

this is out of control

Again, attributed to the same tweet:
quote:

but, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, LSU refused.

So we either entirely believe McMurphy's source who hasn't been identified or we take a look a logical look at what may have happened.

AD Foley also said that no alternatives were discussed. LINK
quote:

Nick de la Torre ?@NickdelaTorreGC
Foley says no other options were looked at other than playing the game at Florida. #Gators #LSU

We have several reports that LSU offered to play either in Gainesville or in Baton Rouge. So someone looks a bit like a liar. TBH, I'd take much of what Foley said with a bit of skepticism.

Should't the SEC bear that cost?

It was out of the control of LSU and TV revenue would probably be huge, right?

It isn't just the 1.5 mil buyout. It is also the revenue that the entire city of Baton Rouge sees on weekends when the tigers play.

And for that dumbass Florida fan who keeps saying we are the kettle for not giving up our home game, I'd bet money you ate paint chips as a child.

Look at my post history, literally all I've said all along is that the people in Gainesville don't release the manpower it takes after a major hurricane. Then we were told by your AD that the game would be played in Gainesville or nowhere else and the time was TBD. All I said was "don't cancel". LSU went out of their way to make this game happen and UF basically said its Gainesville from 11am-2:30 pm or I want you to cancel your senior day and come here. Our coach said we could play it in a parking lot with no fans and it would be fine. Yours said Gainesville or don't play. I respect LSUs administration and coaches. Florida has lost all respect from me.

There's also the problem of that being LSU's senior night. Something that should not be cancelled due to Florida's admins and the SEC being morons.

I still can't get enough of this 180 flip. UF fans going from everything will be fine to a chicken with its head cut off in a little over two hours.

TV revenue wouldn't but if you have 80k-100k people travel to BR then the local revenue impact is enormous. Again, why should LSU sacrifice a home game and their senior day because Foley and Coach Mac was scared of a neutral site or playing Monday?

Well if nothing else comes of this, I would like to think the SEC should establish some standard going forward. Have arrangements when things like this happen in the future.

I know that sucks right now, but hopefully something comes of it. Again, I love watching LSU/FL play, so I would really enjoy seeing the game.

Couldn't agree more. My post from earlier:

quote:

Honestly, I hope this makes them implement a solid backup plan that will be put into effect if a team's ability to host a game comes into question.

Something along the lines of having two stadiums as the "backups A and B" each week when the home team is playing an away game.

It's not well articulated, but the general idea is ascertainable.

Cost is much more than just buy out. Lost revenue for only one of seven home games is another. If damage problems and first responder needs are so understandable in Florida, why did their administration wait until today. LSU offered last weekend and not because we were trying to steal a home game. Been there done that.

To get away from this repetitive talk I'll agree to disagree. I actually do general maintenance on rental property in G'ville. No I didn't eat lead paint… I hope. I'll be busy as shite I hope working. I already am actually.

We are just fans that wanted to play the game as much as you did. Do I know the inside scoop on why the game wasn't moved or even discussed earlier in the week. No. Usually the middle of the state gets
little damage from hurricanes. Does that mean the roads or infrastructure could be compromised. No.

It sucks for both teams. I guess we benefit with one less loss if we were to.

Not for LSU. Our AD straight up said we'll play on Monday. It's up to UF.

I'll talk to Foley and tell him that he needs to buck up and play the game Monday. I'd take the day off. Would be a hell of an audience and pay day for both teams.
