Sherwood Blount Jr., a banned booster whose cash payments to players were central to the 1980s SMU football scandal, the only case in NCAA annals to lead to the ultimate sanction for a college sports program, the "death penalty." After the scandal Blount entered the sports agent business while also tending to his growing commercial real-estate empire, and represented another Dallas native, former UNLV star Larry Johnson, who would go on to have a 10-year career in the NBA.

Blount has a history of loaning money to college athletes before their eligibility has expired. In the early 1990s, Athletic Associates Inc., a sports agent firm co-owned by Blount, filed suit against at least eight football players who had failed to pay back promissory notes, including Texas A&M quarterback Kevin Murray and Georgia running backs Tim Worley and Keith Henderson.

What about the players he bought Georgia?

If Kyler's dad who was heavily involved in his son's recruitment took money as a college player, why wouldn't he seek the same for his kid's recruitment?

Because the Aggies don't pay in cash. They use another form of currency.

Would be amazing if the midget QB who wasnt any good got them into NCAA trouble after he left. That would be a pretty aggy move.

I would be surprised if he didn't...he sure comes across as arrogant enough to do it.

Didn't he have some injury that the coaches at tamu ignored? He went undrafted as a result and never caught on with an NFL team.

Looks like the #tamutradition of mishandling QBs goes all the way back to the '80s.

who cares if he never paid him back. We got the RB and the Firebird

Fair trade plus Sherwood needs to get his money back from the a-hole from Pittsburgh that snitched.

ah, the Firebird. Really, what could a booster do? Go to some authority saying that some high school kid took the given car to a different university other than the one he said he would go to? The SWC in the early 80s... the gall of all of the programs to so OPENLY do their thing.

Dickerson probably DID take a paycut when he got to the NFL.

No logjam..no injury was "ignored" he had a horrific ankle injury in '84' and missed a year. He never was as good a runner after that, he skipped the NFL Combine, had an attitude (gee, big surprise) , and wasn't drafted after coming out early.
