So, somebody ejected from the game should NOT be held responsible simply because he changes schools?
Seems like something like that would NOT be ignored as long as you’re still a college athlete.

Boy, it sure would be a shame if Clemson repeatedly targeted his backup throughout the first half and lofted a beautiful touchdown pass right over him for a touchdown.

He was ejected from the game for unsportsmanlike. Theres no further penalty for that.
He transferred and the big 12 decided it was fighting, not unsportsmanlike, which does carry a future penalty.
The issue is that a player was suspended, but neither the player himself, nor his new team were notified.
The only way for LSU to have known about this would have been to FOIA Houston and force them to give up records. That needs to be addressed.

I was pretty surprised seeing this board so anti Clemson. I get it now.
Did Dabo report this kid as the “Godly” thing to do? Punk

Boy, it sure would be a shame if Klubnick got rolled up trying to do just that.

Trying to parse through all the threads on our board on this topic, here's what I think happened:
- player was ejected at the end of Houston's bowl game last year
- when ejected, it was announced on the field he was ejected for unsportsmanlike conduct, the same appeared in the games official notes
- unsportsmanlike conduct alone does not constitute a suspension. If you're ejected for fighting, it carries a first half suspension the following game if it occurred in the 2nd half, like targeting.
- given the official notes from the game, neither LSU nor the SEC had any idea he was ejected for fighting, so no one thought a suspension was on the table
- apparently, somewhere down the line, Houston received a letter from the Big 12 that they had elevated the infraction to fighting. Houston never shared this letter with LSU after his transfer
- Clemson internet sleuths started reviewing game footage this week and reported he should be suspended.
- NCAA reviews it this week and confirms he was ejected for fighting 9 months after the game was played.
Was the player ever made aware as well? Seems stupid not to in the age of transfers. If he knew, that is on him for not telling LSU. Is Houston obligated to let the player or the next school know. If not, this is completely on the NCAA even though Houston could have stopped it. Who knows why Houston didn't notify them (if they really didn't). Possible it was some administrative drone that didn't put two and two together and realize the player was never notified. Administrative staff can be pretty dumb if something is not the exact same fact pattern every time. I don't think the conferences should really be the ones sending the letter if a punishment is applied across all NCAA athletes. The Big XII should have had to report to the NCAA their decision that it was for fighting and the NCAA send the letter to the player AND school. I guess this is a legit suspension but the administrative frickuppery of it all is bush league.
This is why you send everybody involved a notice with a certified mail receipt.

It doesn’t matter at the moment about if/why/how it was changed, wouldn’t you rather know BEFORE the game in order to prepare…or forfeit the game for (possible) ineligible player?
If the later, that also puts you in the wrong for not doing your own research of your players…don’t think that will sit too well.

So, do those particular posters still want to blame Dabo?

Until we know what actually happened, you’re taking that chance.

You damn sure want to know when the letter was sent.
Have to do this with any transfer that was ejected in their last game.

I don't know how it works with this but Dabo could have just waited until after the game and said LSU played an ineligible player. Or waited for someone else to.
Might have been worse.

Hince do you research on your own players.
I know hs’s here in Ga. who were punished because players were used longer than allowed on multiple teams.

Are you 100% positive about that? Can you point to a precedent because the NCAA has a history of being pretty liberal when retroactively declaring a player ineligible and vacating wins.

I think you are right on everything except this one. This is more likely that butthurt Houston leaked it to Clemson. Then Clemson leaked it to their lacky that works for their message board.
