LSU paid him ~1.9 M last year (with Pitt buyout) and now looks to be on the hook for another 1.2 M (40%). Over 3 M for one average year of work. Impressive money management there, LSU. It's not like you can burn it like we do.

Edit:

Per a 247 the remaining would be fully guaranteed. So that is damn near 5 M spent for one year of Canada.

He's not getting the buyout supposedly.

But in American that converts to only 1.8 M.....

I think Canada wanted LSU to hire a translator to intrepid Cajun gutteral speak from O. Cost would have been 297,000 per year to pay for a linguistic expert on foreign language and basic football knowledge.

Alleva checked bank accounts and no dice.

I read that he quit. He and Orgeron hasn't had a great relationship all season long, due to O meddling with his play-calling and motion schemes. I read O really interfered during the Troy game, which resulted in the loss everyone now enjoys, and both coaches had to have a sit-down with Alleva afterwards over it. From that point on, Canada was pretty much out the door.....

Nothing has happened, and there’s been no confirmation as to what is likely to happen.

So to answer your question, neither.

Its.........unclear to me.

I've heard he was negotiating his buyout, and I've heard he was owed the whole damn thing.

Who was that idiot that started daily threads during the off-season about Canada being a Broyles Award candidate and how much better the LSU offense was going to be this year?

I dunno.

Make fun of me if you want though, I thought Canada did a fine job for a first year guy, and I was looking forward to more. Sucks it didn't work out.

He didn’t praise O’s roux.

On a serious note, it seems to be neutral. Lsu and Canada’s agent are working out an agreement on the rest of his contract. At least that is what is reported.
