I dont think the guy that did should go to jail! At the end of the day it is just like any old tree. You can find alot of old trees that die.... and it doesn't make the news, You all have a tiger, eagle, RIP tree as a mascot. How many do you all need? imo

Guys, we can not prove what is NOT there... ONE BAMMER go get the BHAM news from that day and find the article that said Auburn rolled toomers.... A lot of folks kept that issue of the paper...

So show the article and prove us wrong... someone must have it... Old Al said he had it....

So you would be okay with some random guy destroying trees worth thousands of dollars in your yard, or causing you to spend thousands in the effort to save the tree or clean up the damage?

What if some one bulldozed the Indian Mounds on LSU's campus? After all, it's just a couple of piles of dirt, despite their historical significance.

The guy committed a felony, irrespective of the sentimental value to the Auburn community. He should be dealt with accordingly.

Yep, I saw it. You must have been posting on TI when they said it and missed part of it. Ron Mott thinks all bammers are crazy.

I didn't see the NBC broadcast. Did they provide file footage of the alleged rolling of the trees when Bryant died or otherwise provide a source for the assertion?

They just showed a clip of the Bear and said that it was done in retaliation for Auburn fans rolling Toomers on his death.

Yet, the only person who says Auburn rolled Toomer's when the Bear died is this guy:

Looks like a credible source.

Why does it matter? The average attention time of an American is tiny. They caught the comment and retained it. Not saying I agree with it...but it is what it is.

So the NBC report does not actually verify that the rolling occurred and does not provide any evidence it actually happened.

Brian Williams simply stated Updyke's intention for killing Toomer's. I doubt Brian Williams/NBC has investigated it or even cares whether or not it happened.

I think Alahunter is just embarrassed that NBC made that guy the face of bammer football. Though he is certainly representative.

One of my homeies is the one that broke that story.

Also, even if Auburn fans did roll Toomer's after Bear Bryant died, it doesn't justify destroying a 130 year old landmark. Any rational person would realize that.
