Yes it was a gunshot and sadly Radyn has passed away. He was Derrius’s 3 year old cousin.

This is awful. I can’t imagine.

Hopefully some good will come of this and people will see this and lock up their guns or practice better muzzle disciple. These things should never happen.

God bless his family and friends, that is just so unimaginably heartbreaking and tragic for them.

This is not a criticism of the family.

But this needs to be a reminder to all gun owners. Do not keep your guns loaded while in storage and keep them in a locked container.

From an online article

quote:

The child found the .38-calber pistol in the bedroom and shot himself in the head, Norvell said.

“The father said it was on a chest of drawers, five feet up or so,” Norvell said. “He got the gun and like boys do, they’re curious, he shot himself in the eye.”

No reason at all to have a loaded weapon in a place like that. My heart is broken for this child and his passing.

Damn. I know this pain all too well. My 12 year old cousin died two years ago. My thoughts are with all those touched by this awful event.

No, there's not. But people make mistakes and I flatly refuse to pile on a grieving father.
