Per SEC Country

quote:

Ever since he played his last game at Auburn in 1985, Bo Jackson has been the SEC’s career leader in yards per carry. Jackson, who won the ’85 Heisman before becoming a star in both the NFL and Major League Baseball, averaged 6.62 yards per carry over his four-year career.

quote:

With just two more carries, Guice will be at 400 for his career. And in the SEC record book, that qualifies him to be the league’s new all-time leader in the category. Guice heads into the Tennessee game averaging 6.91 yards a pop on his 398 career carries.

quote:

Despite being on the verge of breaking a mark held by one of the biggest names in sports history, Guice seems to be flying under the radar this season. National conversations about the best running back in the country have revolved around Penn State’s Saquon Barkley, Stanford’s Bryce Love or Notre Dame’s Josh Adams. Guice is the forgotten man. The left knee Guice sprained at Mississippi State in Week 3 is no doubt a major factor in his absence from that discussion. He put up pedestrian numbers as he played his way through the injury, but there is no question he is back now.

Looking for the article on Harris breaking records held by people like Bo. Tuscaloosa says Harris > Guice, trying to verify. TIA.

Matt Jones, the fricking Arkansas QB averaged 6.63 ypc during his career, but you need 400 career attempts to qualify and he only had 382.

Harris 6.99 ypc

Verified.

Only at a dumpster fire like LSU could two backs like Fournette and Guice go their careers without playing in a meaningful post season game, or receiving an invite to New York.

Guice:
2015 - 8.5 ypc
2016 - 7.6 ypc
2017 - 5.7 ypc

Looks like Guice knows about tDecline.

Harris:
2015 - 3.4 ypc
2016 - 7.2 ypc
2017 - 8.4 ypc

Looks like Harris keeps getting better and better

Felix Jones, the Arkansas Running Back, averaged 7.7 ypc on 386 carries.

If you give him -5 yards on each of his next 14 carries to get him to 400, he would still average 7.48 ypc.

A lot of guys have averaged more than Bo for their careers, but none that qualify for the record with 400+ attempts.
Felix Jones for Arky had 7.6 ypc in his career. But he didn't qualify.

Harris will not break Bo's record.
Guice will break Bo's record.

We still have Tennessee and A&M. Those stout run defenses are for sure gonna cause that number to go down.

We have Mercer this weekend. Harris could name the number of yards he wants and go get them

So you are saying guice's worst year was still way better than Harris's worst year and Guice's best year was still better than Harris's best year. Guess numbers don't lie

I'd argue Guice can do the same. He slaughtered A&M last year

Means nothing other than Bama has a better team around him. If anything it makes Guice look even better for doing as well on an inferior team.

This will sound like a completely retarded question, but while Bo was playing, were records trying to be obtained like they are today?

Back then, it seems like you got your 80-90 ypg and coach yanks you. Now backs run for 200+ and are still in the game.

I really don't understand this because Bo isn't even Auburn's leader in career yards per carry.

Bo - 6.6 ypc
Brent - 7.2 ypc

I guess the SEC has some ungodly number of minimum carries to qualify if Fullwood isn't up there (Fullwood had 390 career carries).

By the way, just as an aside, in his senior season at Auburn, Fullwood rushed for 1391 yards and averages 8.3 ypc. I wonder if that might be the SEC season ypc record?

8.3 ypc... holy shite. Herschel Walker's dick shrivels at the very thought.
