I would take him at LSU in a heartbeat. I was not a fan of this hire by Tennessee as an LSU fan.
ETA: I know my opinion is not the popular one, but being close to the Tech program, I think he will do really well at Tennessee. Remember, 90% of the people out there said Urban wasn't an SEC caliber coach either.

I would rather have Derek Dooley at LSU rather than Miles.

we will NOT hire Dooley. I can assure you of that.
That's because Dooley has a 4 million dollar buy out in his contract.

Yeah, that and we wouldn't want him coaching here even if his buyout was $1.

Urban had a 39-6 record and dominated BCS teams with Mountain West players. Dooley was a 17-20 coach in the horrible WAC. To compare him to Meyer in any way, shape or form is very, very far-fetched.

Dooley at Tech: 17-20
But according to Tech fans, Dooley had Tech "going in the right direction." Those people can be duped by just about anything.

I didn't realize you made the decisions for UGA on who they hire.

I actually think Dooley is a promising coach. He has experience under Saban, and he also should be able to recruit pretty well since he has contacts all over the south. I hope he doesn't come into LA and give LSU trouble with recruiting. At LA tech he gave us a pretty good game last year and he gave boise state a good game too. I think he recruited very well for Tech and he was gonna have them on the right track pretty soon. He may have to take some lumps at first at Tennessee but i think he can recruit well for them and get them back on track eventually.

You must also not realize that we don't want shitty, lower tier coaches from shitty, lower tier conferences leading our program. We can do much better than that. Common sense man.

Yep, who has proven 10 times as much as a football coach than Dooley ever has.

I think I'll reserve judgment until he's been there a few years.

Mark Richt 3 east titles, 2 SEC titles, 6 10 win seasons, 3rd highest winning percentage among active coaches, 2 #2 finishes, etc, etc.
Richt >>>> Miles, Petrino, BJ, Joker, Mullen, Chizik, Nutt, Dooley
2-3 vs Saban
4-1 vs Spurrier
1-4 vs Meyer

While you UGA fans are tounging Richts a-hole look around his ballsack at the scoreboard! In 2009 it was Tennessee 45, UGA 19. Talk shite elsewhere please!

Seems the only people that realize Dooley is a good coach are those that are closest to the LT program and actually know a lot about Dooley.
Hm, wonder why that is??
Lets see, he let LT to its first bowl win in three decades, and his record is skewed by last year, which is a misnomer, but very few will take the time to look more into it that simply looking at his record.
Fact is, LT was THE most injured program in CFB last year. They still almost beat Boise State and LSU in Death Valley last year playing a ton of true freshman. THey improved greatly in every major statistical category under Dooley and the recruiting greatly improved.
I mean, Dooley's record was one game better than his predecessor(16-20). Yet, his predecessor was fired and booted out onto his arse while the LT people were basically grabbing onto Dooley's ankle telling him not to go to UT. Wonder why that is??
Record don't tell the whole story.

You'll likely need to keep this excuse for next year too. It's gonna be tough for UT to outlast the meat of the SEC schedule. You already are committed to playing Bama and UF and those two unlike last year could get ugly fast if your not careful. Not bragging, just sharing an opinion. I know you guys will be back but I think Dooley is stepping into a fragile situation. Give him some time.

No doubt. UT is a 3 year project at LEAST right now. This is as low as the program has been in 80 years.
