Yeah...I was about to say...didn't Florida have a Top 5 defense in 2008?

No the OSU is right, Saban lost his OC and had to scrape the bottom of the barrel and settle for some junk arse OC and now they are going to suck

There were multiple 1st round guys from those Florida defenses. They were very good in 2006 and 2008. Mattison was at least in part a reason for those teams successes.
absolutely. those defenses were very very good. but they werent of the same caliber as the Bama defenses on the recent championship teams who were coached by the other coach we are comparing. Plus, Mattison doesnt have any of the talent that he had at UF.
Also, can Denard run an offense that can keep the defense off the field long enough to catch their breath? Tebow would march up the field and punch it in after a 15 play, 7 minute drive. Denard is more boom or bust. The Michigan D is going to need time to rest after battling with the Bama OL. How many times could you line up against DJ Fluker before you need a break?

i said they were good. then later i said they were very very good. but they werent great. Nobody said they got lucky.

So basically your argument is morphing as facts come out that don't back up prior statements. Ok got it.

no dude. drink some coffee. wake up. try to follow along. I've said the whole time that the UF defenses were good. I never said they got lucky, thats what you said. Also, I never said Tebow did it all on his own. I said Tebow would lead his team on long drives that allowed the defense to rest, while Denard is more boom or bust and his defense doesnt get that same rest.
Did it make you feel better this morning to recall all the UF players from the last time they were actually good?

I am up. Been up since 5:30 this morning geting stuff done before I head our for the mountains for a long weekend. I just stated a few actual facts to show you that your rather broad generalizations were off a little about those teams.

It's the first game and there will be some kinks to work out with some new personnel, so DR will get some quality yards.....he is a seasoned and talented player.
With that said, second half adjustments are likely to keep him in check.
A disciplined defense is exactly how you defend someone like DR and there is no defense in the country more discplined than Saban's.

Do you recall the time they played in Atlanta before that?
It's like people forget that Meyer beat Saban the year before for the SEC title
Maybe you forgot Saban is 2-1 versus Meyer. Including two blowouts and a heart attack.

Did you watch that "clash" last night?
I did, in person. So, when you say that, "I'd say as of this year, Michigan's talent is comparable to South Carolina"...what you're saying is that Michigan is talented enough to eke out a 4 point win against Vandy in Nashville.
OK...I'll give you that.

I would put Michigan's DC and OC against Bama's head to head and feel pretty good about my chances.

Head coaches Saban is probably better, but Hoke is pretty good in his own right. The guy took Michigan from the crap they were 2 years ago to a pretty good football team last year (they shouldn't have been in a BCS game, but they were a legit top 15-20 squad)
What in the frick? Are three national titles not enough of an argument? :rotflmao:

Al Borges had one good year as the OC at Auburn when he had 3 first round draft picks in the backfield. Any Auburn fan will tell you that his offenses from 2005-2007 were anemic.
Actually, the offense was more potent the year after all the 1st round draft picks, in 2005. More points averaged, and more yards averaged. Brandon Cox at QB, Kenny Irons at RB.

Not entirely true.
2004: 421 YPG, 32.1 PPG
2005: 410 YPG, 32.2 PPG

I can't wait for this pathetic excuse of a top ten matchup to be over and done with. It's being hyped up by the outlets, but it's going to be a blood bath. I'll probably quit watching after the second quarter. I'm just sick of hearing about it. Bama, just kick their arse, run their dicks in the dirt, go home, and celebrate like you just beat MSU.

Alabama contained Cam Newton but he beat them with passing. Alabama will surely contain Robinson like they did Newton. One of the key differences between Newton and Robinson, though, is Robinson can't pass.
I won't be pulling for Alabama this weekend, but I will be pulling for a happy girlfriend (who is a UA grad). It's the best I can do.

The Michigan fans are acting like the VT fans in 2009. They were quiet most of the summer until a few days before the game. Then the shite talking started.
