Offseason lmao!

So me and my ma we’re discussing this over our oats this morning, thought it was an interesting topic.

Both teams had tremendous years! But both teams ended the season getting waxed in the big one. It’s interesting because Alabama did the waxing, but later became the waxed.

2012 Notre Dame lost 42-14 (-28)
2018 Alabama lost 44-16 (-28)

2012 Notre Dame: 4 ranked wins
2018 Alabama: 5 ranked wins

And another fun similarity: both teams had a Heisman finalist from Hawaii (though neither of them won)

I think this is a remarkable matchup. The two teams are almost identical.

Who wins? (serious replies only, no trolling! TIA)

2012 Notre Dame?

Well now you've really found a sore spot for Alabama fans.

Yes, would you not agree that the similarities are there?

Undefeated
Bad final game
Heisman candidates from Hawaii
etc.,

Well, that and 2012 Notre Dame should have had 3 losses.

If you're someone who doesn't know shite about football I guess it would look similar.

It’s possible. But Alabama didn’t look all that tough against Clemson. I think it would be a one score game either way.

Here's a good way to compare.

Could LSU have beat 2012 Notre Dame?

Could LSU have beat 2018 Alabama?

You’re factoring in two different LSU teams. That complicates things.

This is pure 1v1, Alabama vs Notre Dame.

Should better than 42-14. I'm thinking Bama 31 ND 21

Thanks for the reply Ted2016.

You’re right there with me. I say it would be one possession, you say 10 points. I would go:

Notre Dame: 16
Alabama: 10

Minto Teao was a great player. I think he and that defense make thinks tough on Alabama.

2012 would have at least scored on 2018 Bama. The 2018 defense was Bama's worst in about a decade. Imagine getting shut out by that crew. Seems impossible.

The longer your act has gone on the more stale and boring it has gotten.

I have to admit, WT, your schtick is exhibit 1A as to why I think I have finally gotten too old to understand internet culture. I don’t get your endgame. Act like an uber bitch, so when people call you out for being an uber bitch, you can point and laugh at them for noticing that you’re a bitch? Don’t get me wrong, game respect game, and you have achieved your goal to an admirable level. I just... don’t get why it appeals to you.

I think our offense would have had an easy time against them. But our defense was no where near as good in 2018. That wouldve let ND offense stay on the field more. ND scores a garbage TD to make it look closer though.

This is an extremely interesting topic.

It really made me think about teams that had tremendous seasons (i.e. undefeated regular season, conference championship, lots of wins over ranked teams, etc.), but ultimately got waxed in the NC.

My memory isn't that good, but I think there was a similar team some time around 2011?

I mean... I think it’s a pretty reasonable offseason debate. What’s absurd about it?

It’s a simple comparison of similar teams! I even complimented Alabama in my post.
