FL DB Chooses Kentucky over LSU

quote:

Q: What school came in second for you behind Kentucky?

A: That’s hard because when I took the visit at Kentucky I kind of shut down my whole recruiting process. I wasn’t interested in no schools. But schools I visited before Kentucky? I would say, that’s tough — probably LSU. It was my dream school when I was smaller. So, once I got it, it was ‘I’m gonna go to this school.’ But I really had to sort out my options. It was a DB school and I think I was one of the greatest DBs to play at my school. I think I was gonna make a big impact at a school that I enjoyed all my life.

This is the same as a kid committing to LSU in basketball over Kentucky. Kid wasnt gonna play at LSU and wanted to be the big fish in the pond at a school that will never really contend for a title. Dont blame him .much better chance of playing at kentucky in football than LSU especially at DB.

To me that whole interview screams "noncommittable offer." Almost everyone who picks a mid tier school claims that their second choice was Alabama, LSU, USC, Florida, etc. So few of these kids understand the difference between an offer that they can commit to at any time vs. "LSU has been showing me a lot of love ....I get letters from them all the time and they really liked me at their camp." These big time schools have unlimited budgets that allow them to make every recruit feel special, just in case the school decides they actually want them in February.

Great choice for him. With all of Kentucky's tradition , SEC & National Championships, and quality coaching staff, getting to the Pros,it's hard to compete against that.

Edit: Football Signee. Best of luck to him.

Sometimes it's best if you just admit that you fricked up and move on.

ETA: For you, this is one of those times just to be clear.
