That game may have been worse than last year's.
Well it is kinda similar in that both times special teams play killed Bama and allowed a miracle win for Aubie.
Still, it's something to behold - two returned TD punts and both caught and returned by the same guy!

Miracle. This will get attention.
But accurate.

Only ~%75 of Auburn wins over Bama are clssified as miracles.

In all honesty I didn't use that term to troll but two blocked punts is freaking miraculous (just doesn't happen a whole lot that any punt is blocked and returned for a TD let alone twice) and that incredible return last year was too. I don't really see a problem with that. It takes luck as well as skill and talent to pull of an upset and both were upsets.

RIP to a guy I thought was second only to Pat Sullivan growing up.
And
to the Bama fans on here paying their respects.

Shug was pissed at Langner when he intercepted it.
When Langner reached the sideline, he found Coach Jordan upset. Langner reportedly said, "But, coach, I intercepted the pass," to which Coach Jordan said, "Yeah, but our plan was to make them punt."

2 punts getting blocked isn't miraculous. It's execution and opportunity fricking eachother and cumming in Bama's face.
Hence Punt Bama Punt and Kick Six

Greg Gantt, a friend of mine, was the infamous punter. If you'll notice, he was a 3 step punter then(actually a skip, then 2 steps). That is what contributed to the blocks, and after that he learned to use the 2 step approach and consequently kicked for the Jets for a number of years...he's dead now, too.

the Mrs. just told me this. Sad to hear. For a while in the late 80's/early 90's he ran a short order restaurant on 5th Ave across from the then AmSouth-Sonat tower in downtown Birmingham. Its where Chick-Fil-A is now.
Gary Sanders made one of the greatest spur of the moment calls on that second block. They made the last five minutes into a 45rpm record.
God bless him and his family.

I think he brought the kicker closer to the Center. Pat was already working for AU.
With so many players getting to the kicker so fast, I'd say the guilty parties are on the line. A tactic back then was to pull an OL and have a back shoot the gap.
I wouldn't put it on the kicker at all...AU was fighting to see who would block the kick; not if.
Those types of plays stick with the game forever and, in our mind, the player is frozen at 21 and healthy. Hate to hear of his death.....
